Cydia has recently launched Multifl0w, an app that allows you to simultaneously open up to nine apps on your iPhone. Having opened nine of them, is there a way that you can close all nine with just one tap?
Right now, closing multitasking apps on iPhones running iOS 4 means you have to close them one by one. No app in the Apple App Store could provide a convenient way to close everything with just one action.
However, if you have a jailbroken iPhone, you can avail of a convenient way to close your background apps with just one tap. An add-on for SBSettings called “Remove Background” is now available. It is a free hack that can be downloaded from Cydia.
First, you would need to install SBSettings. After installation, launch SBSettings and tap the “Remove BG” button to close all apps running in the background.
Simple, isn’t it?

Facebook’s “Places” feature for iPhones was recently launched and added under Facebook version 3.2. However, it doesn’t end there.
Facebook developers have issued two other updated versions that seek to resolve certain problems after jailbroken iPhones upgraded to Facebook 3.2, like the inability to upload photos to one’s Facebook account, and login problems.
This resulted to the release of Facebook version 3.2.1 which came out the same day as 3.2 in order to address upgrade problems.
Facebook version 3.2.2 has been released a few days after in order to fix the login issue on your iPhones.
To upgrade the app, just go to the App Store on your iPhone, go to iTunes, and hit the upgrade button.

Apple continues to frown on jailbreaking and has recently seemed to condemn it all-together. Apple has recently filed a patent application which will allow it to remotely disable any iDevices detected of having any unauthorized activity.
The patent titled "Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device" will allow Apple to detect and stop any suspicious activity such as entering an incorrect password a predetermined number of times or within a period of time, hacking, jailbreaking or unlocking the iOS-based device.
Apple’s initial response to legalized jailbreaking stated that: “unauthorized modification of the iOS violates the warranty of the iOS-based device.” This recent patent filing makes this statement stronger and makes it more difficult to jailbreak Apple iOS devices.
Apple indicated that its intention is to protect iPhone users from an unauthorized user who tries to access the device. However, the description of unauthorized activity, especially as to jailbreaking and unlocking, is questionable because the patent doesn’t provide details on whether Apple alone or the owner of the device will have the ability to remotely disable the device.
Details of the patent indicate that Apple’s device “could automatically snap pictures of the unauthorized user and record the GPS coordinates of the device, as well as log keystrokes, phone calls, or other activity. Once an unauthorized user is detected, the device can then automatically disable certain features or send notifications to Twitter or other services.”
In its Abstract, the patent application indicated the following:
"This is generally directed to identifying unauthorized users of an electronic device. In some embodiments, an unauthorized user of an electronic device can be detected by identifying particular activities that may indicate suspicious behavior. In some embodiments, an unauthorized user can be detected by comparing the identity of the current user to the identity of the owner of the electronic device. When an unauthorized user is detected, various safety measures can be taken. For example, information related to the identity of the unauthorized user, the unauthorized user’s operation of the electronic device, or the current location of the electronic device can be gathered. As another example, functions of the electronic device can be restricted. In some embodiments, the owner of the electronic device can be notified of the unauthorized user by sending an alert notification through any suitable medium, such as, for example, a voice mail, e-mail or text message."

Multitasking in your iPhone & other iDevices has just gotten better! Cydia has just updated Multifl0w – an expose’-like multitasking interface for iOS that now works with iOS 4 and the iPad running iOS 3.2.
Multifl0w was totally rewritten for speed, reliability, and compatibility with iOS 4. Multifl0w brings a new redesigned interface and is able to show all your open apps (up to 9 apps) on your iPhone screen for easy and quick task switching.
However, only apps that specifically support this feature are allowed to multitask. Apple limited the types of running tasks to a handful of popular processes, like the background music streaming, file uploading, and switching between running processes, among others.
Multifl0w can work alongside or totally replace Apple’s native task switcher. The tabs can also be rearranged by a simple “drag and drop” method. It also has customization options that let you create the multitasking style you want.
Multifl0w has an awesome Exposé-like task switching feature that zooms out your view to a grid of thumbnail tiles representing the running tasks. When you need to check another app, just tap on it and Multifl0w zooms you in smoothly right where you left off.
The app requires a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch and the free backgrounder app from Cydia. Multifl0w can also be found in the Cydia Store for $4.99 but if you bought the previous version launched in November 2009, you can update for free.

Scammers have found a way to charge thousands of dollars to accounts of iTunes users that are linked to PayPal. One user reported that he learned that his account had 50 iTunes charges of $99.99 each from PayPal.
The user said he was just in time and caught the scam before his bank could send the payments. Others were not as lucky because PayPal has already transferred the funds, however, PayPal promised to reimburse the fraudulent transactions.
Apple disclosed that they are aware of the issue. An Apple spokesman said, “Among other new security measures, iTunes now requires more frequent re-entry of a customer’s credit card security code. But if your credit card or iTunes password is stolen and used on iTunes, we recommend that you contact your financial institution and inquire about canceling the card and issuing a charge-back for any unauthorized transactions. We also recommend that you change your iTunes account password immediately.”
The seeming “security hole” associated with iTunes turned out to be a phishing scam where scammers, pretending to be representatives of legitimate entities, deceive users to divulge or provide their passwords and other account information and use it to access or hack users’ accounts. These scammers often get away with it without being traced.
Experts advised against providing passwords to anyone, especially online adding that “No reputable company will ever ask you for your password, even for their site. Apple will never, ever ask you for your iTunes password.”
Companies do not ask for their customers passwords. They also do not send emails asking customers to click a link and login to your account, verify your account, or change your password. All iTunes accounts are also managed in the iTunes application, not on web pages so if you’re asked to enter your iTunes password on a web page, it’s highly likely to be a scam.

Google on Monday announced its plans to launch an app for the iPhone. David Petrou, a project lead of Google Goggles, said the app is under development and is pending Apple’s approval.
Google Goggles is already available as built-in app on Android and a large number of iPhone users have requested Google to release an iOS version of the app.
Google Goggles is a cool app that lets you take a picture of something you’re currently interested in and then submit it to Google as a search query. Google Goggles will then return fairly accurate results in a matter of seconds from a database of 1 billion stored images.
Google believes that Goggles has the potential to be the next “Universal visual search tool” and has recently purchased Pink in order to improve the service. With the majority of iPhone users experiencing ‘data frenzy’, Google believes that the product is bound to be a huge hit on the iOS platform. Google Goggles is amongst the most advanced augmented reality products of recent times and it can be used to promote an altogether new generation of mobile apps.
Google expects to launch Goggles by the end of this year.

Upgrading to the recently released iOS 4.0.2 to fix the PDF problem brought about by Comex’s JailbreakMe will make you loose the jailbreaking and unlocking you’ve done on your iPhones.
Only iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC) users can jailbreak and unlock iOS 4.0.2. So if you want to go back to having a jailbroken and unlocked phone, the solution is to downgrade to iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 then re-jailbreak your iPhone using JailbreakMe.
Before proceeding with the downgrade, ensure that you saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1. After checking on this, follow the instructions herein provided to proceed with the downgrade.
1. Download the iOS 4.0 IPSW or iOS 4.0.1 IPSW file required for your iDevice and place it on your desktop.
2. Put your iPhone in DFU mode by:
* Starting iTunes and connecting your device to your PC/Mac with USB cable. * Turn off your device. * Hold the Home and Power button for about 10 seconds, then release the Power button but keep holding the Home button until iTunes detect your iPhone in recovery mode. Your iPhone screen should be totally blank by now.
3. Edit Windows / Mac HOSTS file:
For Windows Users:
* Navigate to Start >All Programs > Accessories > Right click on the Notepad icon > Choose Run as Administrator * Now go to File menu in opened Notepad and choose Open or simply press Ctrl+O. * Browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and open HOSTS file. * Once HOSTS file is opened, copy-paste the following line at the end of the file: 74.208.105.171.apple.com * Now, go back to File menu and choose Save or press Ctrl+S.
For Mac Users:
* Click Go > Go to Folder and then enter path /etc * Open HOSTS file with TextEdit and add the following line at the end of the file: 74.208.105.171.apple.com * Now go to File and choose Save As, uncheck if no extension is provide, use .txt and save the HOSTS file on your desktop. * Now replace the original HOSTS file with the one you just saved on your desktop. In case you are prompted for the password, just enter it and click OK.
4. After successfully editing your HOSTS file, open iTunes and click on the name of your device from the sidebar menu.
5. On the summary page, hold down the SHIFT key on keyboard and press Restore button. Choose the firmware file you want to restore, choose the respective(iOS 4.0 or iOS 4.0.1) IPSW file you downloaded in step 1. For Mac OS X user, use the ALT+Restore combo to choose the firmware file.
6. iTunes will now restore the firmware files on your device. Your iPhone screen will show you the restore progress. Just in case iTunes shows errors with code 1015, 1013 or 1011, just ignore them.
7. After the completion of the restore process, download Recboot. Recboot is a free utility for Windows and Mac users which forces an iDevice to exit from recovery mode with a single click. Click on the Exit Recovery Mode button to restart your device.

iPhone users have already reported several problems after upgrading their phones to iOS 4. Some have complained about functions becoming slow, while others can’t see a message preview for their emails.
After setting up a new account on an iOS 4 device, some users said the Mail App will not load message previews or any “message from” (No Sender).
No need to fret. A few simple steps can help alleviate the issue and have you back to your normal message-reading iPhone again.
First and foremost, ensure that the message previews are enabled for each of your Mail accounts. Navigate to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Preview. If the preview setting is set to "None", change the value to the desired amount of preview lines.
If your preview settings are set to show previews but you're still not seeing them in Mail, follow do the following:
1. Quit and reopen Mail.
2. Double-click the Home button to bring up the multitasking dock.
3. Tap and hold the Mail icon until the red minus sign appears.
4. Tap the red minus button to quit Mail and remove it from the recently used Apps list.
5. Double-click the Home button to return to your start screen and reopen the Mail App.
If you are using an older iOS device like an iPhone 3G or second-generation iPod Touch, all you need to do is to restart your iDevice by holding the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. No need to follow the steps mentioned above.

In the growing business and competition among smartphones, manufacturers go out of their way to make their devices unique. Apple Inc. is one of such companies that seek to maintain its products’ uniqueness and design.
Apple Inc. has recently been awarded patent protection for specific features it invented for its iDevices. Apple filed for patents on two iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad features that users see and use every day on their gadgets - the Slide to Unlock feature of the Lock screen and the pop-up letters that appear when you're typing on the iPhone keyboard.
Apple applied for patents to said features on July 30, 2007 under the title "Animated graphical user interface for a display screen or portion thereof.” The United States Patent and Trademark Office this week decided in Apple’s favor giving them exclusive usage of said features. Apple can now charge any company with license fees if they wish to use the same or significantly similar elements.
The applications were under patent numbers D621849 and D621848.
