Earlier this week, the iPhone Dev Team in partnership with Stefan Esser rolled out the untethered jailbreak method for iOS 4.3.1 in the form of Redsn0w 2.9.6 RC9 and PwnageTool 4.3, then few days later the Dev Team releases the Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC11 and add the Chronic Dev Team’s animation boot logo and some minor bugs fix. Now, the iPhone Dev Team has just once again updated its Redsn0w 0.9.6 for iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak to version RC12 which is intended to fix “any lingering issues with the boot animation”.
On the other hand, if you are iPhone users and planning to unlock, then you can use Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 for Windows to enable the animated custom bootlogo on iPhone, as well as with iPad and iPod Touch.
The jailbr eak instructions on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12 are exactly similar to the RC9 and RC12 version. Just simply download Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12 for Windows and Mac form the download link posted below and follow our step-by-step guide to unsheltered jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and AppleTV 2G.
Those of you who have jailbroken iOS 4.3.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9, rc10 or rc11 you can simply rerun Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 over the existing jailbreak by selecting “Allow boot animation” option as shown in the screenshot above, but ensure that you uncheck “Install Cydia” option to avoid conflict with the existing jailbreak.
NOTE: Those of you who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w as it update the baseband of your device.
