As you all know, Cydia is the App Store for all jailbroken idevices. The only problem is, that it has always been really slow. There are huge delays when pulling data from their servers and it can be a bit of a nightmare when you want to download something in a hurry.
The good news, is that developer Jay Freeman (Saurik) has actually given this app a much needed speed boost. Here is what was highlighted on Twitter the other day.
@saurik: Just switched Cydia’s www over to the new "CDN->ELB" stack I’ve been building: requests to / from my apartment are down from 0.45s to 0.25s!
As you can see, Cydia speed really has been improved and according to Freeman he actually switched Cydia’s servers to a new CDN-ELB stack which has improved the request times from 0.45s to 0.25s. He also released a couple of graphs that actually how the improved responsiveness of Cydia over the space of a three month period and these are really impressive too.
Having Cydia running at a much faster speed is so much better and with this being the number one App Store for jailbroken idevices it really is a great idea. All we have to say is well done Jay and keep up the improvements. This really is the must have app for all the jailbreaking community and we can’t wait to see what you have for us next.
