The RC6 version of Greenpoison will perform an untethered jailbreak (meaning you can reboot you iOS device whenever you want and it will not lose its jailbreak) on AppleTV 2G as well as other iOS devices such as the iPhone (all models), iPad, and iPod Touch (all models) running on iOS 4.2.1. Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on AppleTV 2G With Greenpoois0n RC6 for Mac OS X
Requirements:
1. Greenppis0n RC6 software
2. Download iOS 4.2.6 for Apple TV 2G
3. MicroUSB cable to connect Apple TV 2 to your Mac
Note: Make sure you have updated your AppleTV 2G to iOS 4.2.1 via iTunes
Step 1: Go to our affiliate site, News.ziPhone.org, to download Greenpois0n RC6 for Mac OS X.
Step 2: Unzip the downloaded file ( gp-mac_rc6_final file)
Step 3: Connect your AppleTV 2G device with into your Mac via MicroUSB and Launch the Greenpois0n application by clicking on it. It will open the following window. Then click Yes to continue.
Step 4: It wil prompt you to put your AppleTV 2G in DFU mode, just follow the on-screen instructions to put your AppleTV in DFU mode. Using the remote, you will have to simultaneously press (and hold) the Home and Play buttons
Step 5: Once you successfully put your AppleTV 2G in the DFU mode. Just simply click on the big Jailbreak Button. In case of Apple TV 2G, it takes much more time to Greenpois0n to transfer the necessary data to jailbreak AppleTV in comparison with other iOS device, such as the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Step 6: All you have to do is seat back, relax, and wait for the Greenpois0n to complete the jailbreaking process.
Step 7: After the jailbreak process is completed, you can unplug the AppleTV from your computer, and connect it to your TV.
Step 8: You will see a Greenpois0n Skull instead of an Apple Logo. Click on Greenpois0n Tab and the “Inject Software” (greenpois0n > Inject Software > Cydia Payload). Now you have to open the new browser window to install Cydia.
