We have some bad news, a very ugly news. And you should pay attention if you are a PlayStation 3 jailbreaker or using a jailbroken PlayStation 3. Couple of weeks ago we reported that the well-know jailbreaker GeoHot has successfully managed to jail break the PlayStation 3 and as response for the action Sony filed a lawsuit against the 20-something PlayStation jailbreaker. Now, the Tokyo-based console maker Sony has suspected that there are numerous PlayStation gamer already have a jailbroken console, so the company has implemented a ban for PlayStation 3 hackers / jailbreakers, modders, and offenders in United States and Europe.
Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.
The company said that they will permanently ban users using a jailbroken PlayStation or consumers using an unauthorized / pirated software or homebrew software in accessing PlayStation Network, as well as Sony’s Qriocity media network. First, those running circumvention device or using pirated software receive the following e-mail:
“A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation(R)3 system. Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your PlayStation(R)3 system. Failure to do so will result in termination of your access to the PlayStation(R)Network and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your PlayStation(R)3 system.”
If the jailbreakers refused to reformat or restore the official v3.56 PS3 firmware into their gaming device, the company will automatically remove their rights to access PlayStation Network and Qriocity. The will revive the following email:
“Notice: Access to the PlayStation(R)Network and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your PlayStation (R)3 system has been terminated permanently due to the use of unauthorized circumvention devices and unauthorized or pirated software on your PlayStation(R)3 system. This use violates the terms of both the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation(R)3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation(R)Network/Qriocity(TM) and its Community Code of Conduct provision.”
Users who are banned will received error code 8002A227 telling them with a message: “You cannot use PlayStation Network with this account”.
