The prolific and highly skilled Apple’s product designer Jonathan Ive, Apple's senior VP in charge of industrial design and the main man behind the iconic Apple product iPhone and iPod Touch, is set to receive a whooping £18M (about $30 million) as result of windfall from Apple’s company shares, a report claims. According to Mail Online reports:

“Said to be the result of a 2008 ‘golden handcuffs’ deal which tied him to Apple for three years, the money will propel legendary creator Jonathan Ive into the ranks of The Sunday Times Rich List with a fortune of more than £80M.”

However, word has it that the Cupertino, California-based apple is less keen on his designer returning to his homeland in United Kingdom, which he is also reportedly planning to do. Overall though, Ive is reportedly due to receive £25m (£15.5m) in shares, which he was manage to buy for £7m, due t the 2008 'golden handcuffs' deal that tied him to the company for three fiscal years.

“The deal was agreed in the midst of the financial crash when Apple shares plummeted to £65; they are now worth around £213, helped by the phenomenal success of the products Ive has designed, the latest of which – the iPad 2 – launches this week.”

The Sunday Times is reporting that despite Ive’s 'rock star' status the company is opposing his plan to 'commute' from his £2.5m manor house in Somerset.

A friend of Ive's said, "Unfortunately he is just too valuable to Apple and they told him in no uncertain terms that if he headed back to England he would not be able to sustain his position with them."
