Consumer Reports will Not Recommend Verizon iPhone 4 Due To Antennagate Issues

Despite the fact that the Verizon iPhone 4 gained so much popularity and ranked as one of the most highly wanted smartphone today, Consumer Reports this week stated that they cannot recommend the recently released Verizon iPhone 4 to its readers due to it having the same antenna and poor reception issues as the GSM iPhone 4 released last year.
For those of you who aren’t aware, the antennagate or antenna attenuation is the significant; loss of cellular signal of the iPhone when held in a “death grip” position or when connected to a 3G, CDMA or LTE network. Just a recall, in June 2010 the product review magazine refuses to render its recommendation to Apple on its GSM iPhone 4 due to its widely publicized poor reception issues. And to resolve this issue, the Cupertino, California-based Apple completely reengineered and redesigned the iPhone’s antenna. But unfortunately, it seems like they failed to do it.
From Consumer Reports:
"The Verizon iPhone 4 has a problem that could cause the phone to drop calls, or be unable to place calls, in weak signal conditions, Consumer Reports engineers have found in lab tests."
"The problem is similar to the one we confirmed in July with the AT&T version of Apple’s newest smart phone. It can occur when you hold either version of the phone in a specific but quite natural way in which a gap in the phone’s external casing is covered. The phone performs superbly in most other respects, and using the iPhone 4 with a case can alleviate the problem."
Few weeks ago, tech site iLounge discovered the flaw and posted a video of what they said were the result of the “Death Hug” or the loss of Wi-Fi signal when the device was held in certain position.
