Microsoft is thinking about the possibility of selling the Microsoft Office 2011 productivity suite for Mac OS X through the recently released Mac App Store, according to All Things Digital.
"It's something we are looking at," Microsoft’s Amanda Lafebvre told Mobilized. However, the company said its product is already available in lots of places as well as via the Web–including in a new free 30-day trial version.
"It's something we haven't ruled out," she said. "We just have to see how that relates to our business."
So as quoted above, aside from buying the Microsoft Office Suite for Mac in numerous (online) stores, Mac Os X users can get their Office 2011 directly from Apple. Speaking of trial version, a Mac App Store version of Office 2011 would mean no more 30 day free trial since apple is accepting full version wares only. But if this rumor is true, this would definitely put Microsoft on a better position to effectively complete against its tough rival, the Apple iWork. These also mean that Apple will take 30% revenue cut.
Furthermore, the Windows maker already launches a new app for iPhone / iPod Touch that can be downloaded in Apple’s iTunes App Store. Last week, Microsoft released OneNote note-taking program in iOS marketplace. The app, “free for a limited time,” will allow iOS device users to create and view notes and lists. They can also easily sync notes with free Windows Live online storage and access them from virtually anywhere using their handset, PC, or almost any web browser.
