iPhone Jailbreak Update: Download PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition To Jailbreak and unlock iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G

11/30/2010 02:24:00 PM - 0 comments

Along with the revamped Ultrasn0w carrier unlock tool version 1.2. The iPhone Dev-Team has released a special version of PwnageTool called PwnageTool Unlock Edition version 4.1.3. The PwnageTool Unlock Edition is essential for all iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G jailbreakers and unlockers. You can use the PwnageTool Unlock Edition software jailbreak tool in conjunction with the freshly released Ultrasn0w to unlock the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G that runs on iOS 4.2.1.

If you’re a jailbreaker or unlocker, you must be equipped with the PwnageTool 4.1.3 to upgrade the baseband of your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G to 06.15.00 in order for you to use the Ultrasn0w to unlock your device from AT&T so that you can use other GSM networks such as the T-mobile. Note that this version of PwnageTool was specially designed for those iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users who are stuck on 05.14 or 05.15 baseband.

The iPhone Dev Team said:

“This PwnageTool also contains a 4.2.1 bundle for iPhone3G owners…for all else, it’s still only 4.1. If you have an iPhone3GS with an old bootrom, the new redsn0w will handle 4.2.1 for you (in fact it covers 4.2.1 for all devices, even though some of them are still tethered at 4.2.1 until @comex can work some untethering magic). iPhone3GS users with old bootroms who want to go to 4.2.1 should not use this PwnageTool! Update to stock 4.2.1 first, then use the upcoming redsn0w to update your baseband.”

You can download the PwnageTool version 4.1.3 from this link. Visit our affiliate site, ziPhone News, to find out more about PwnageTool and ultrasn0w. Stay tuned.

Download Updated Ultrasn0w 1.2 to Unlock iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G

11/30/2010 11:27:00 AM - 0 comments

Good news to all jailbreakers that depends on the iPhone unlock, I know that you’ve been waiting for this for a month. The iPhone Dev Team successfully releases the revamped version of Ultrasn0w (version 1.2) to unlock the latest version of Apple operating system, the iOS 4.2.1. Recently, hacker/developer MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team reports that he managed to get the ultrasn0w unlock tool working on iOS 4.21, and he even posted a picture to show the about screen of an iPhone that runs on iOS 4.2.1 under the T-Mobile network.

However, at the moment, the new carrier unlock tool only works on the iPhone 3GS and 3G. It might take a lot of time before the iPhone Dev Team launches a new tool that supports the iPhone 4. From the iPhone Dev Team blog:

“Today we’re pleased to announce our free carrier unlock for iPhone3G/3GS owners with a baseband later than 05.13.04. The unlock for that baseband exploited the AT+XAPP command, thanks to a crash initially discovered by @sherif_hashim (@Oranav also found this crash). So what hole are we exploiting today, since Apple closed that AT+XAPP hole? Well, we’re exploiting the exact same hole!”

In addition, jailbreakers and unlockers must be aware that the new unlock tool is quite special in comparison from the previous Ultrasn0w. In order for you to unlock your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G, you will need to get the revamped version of PwnageTool (version 4.1.3) and Redsn0w (version 0.9.6b5) and jailbreak it. Visit our affiliate site, ziPhone News, to find out more on how to download and use the Ultrasn0w 1.2.

Skyfire, a well-known and award-winning mobile web browser, received a major improvement to offer lots of cool new features and various notable improvements to optimize your web browsing experience using your iPhone and iPod Touch, and will soon be available on Apple iPad tablet.

One of the best features of the Skyfire web browser app for iPhone is the ability to play flash videos through converting the Flash vices into HTML 5 on its own servers, so that users can view the Flash video in HTML format. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t support Flash games and other Flash apps. However, the good news the latest version of Skyfire, version 2.1.0, is now available in UK and it sports numerous new features, such as sharing features for site like Twitter, Tumblr, and there is also now a feature to open a web page in a new tab.

BlackBerry UberTwitter App Now Available For iPhone

11/26/2010 08:14:00 AM - 0 comments

UberTwitter, leading Twitter app that was exclusively available for Research In Motion’s BlackBerry smartphones, has made a very interesting announcement earlier this week regarding the availability of the UberTwitter app for Apple’s iPhone. The company said in a press release that the Twitter client is available for free in the iTunes App Store and is being made available as a Beta release for testing. As of now, there are more than nine million users have downloaded the app, and they send approximately 10 million tweets per day with the app.

Apart from the standard Twitter features, such as the composing and sending tweets, retweeting, direct messaging and embedded link shortening, the UberTwitter app for iPhone included a new feature called ŰberView that was designed to makes reading tweets a lot easier and faster. By holding your iPhone in portrait mode or landscape mode, you can still view and use content from any embedded link (e.g., webpage, photo or video) instantly without exiting the app, using a different app, or opening a new page within it

“Given the iPhone’s growing dominance among smartphone users, we wanted to extend our product offering to its users while making sure our app offered features that would complement the platform’s unique functionality,” said Paul McDonald, CEO of ŰberTwitter. “For instance, ŰberView will enhance the way users consume content. As more tweets become vehicle for sharing articles, photos and videos, this feature will become ever more indispensable.”

Other notable features of the UberTwitter app for iPhone include, tweeting pictures, adding location to your tweet, reading and unreading tweet colors, saving draft of a tweet, importing lists, changing users avatar, editing users profile, directing message, and searching Twitter.

So far, the beta version of the app receives some positive feedbacks. The final version of the UberTwitter App for iPhone will be released by mid-December. Download the UberTwitter app for iPhone for free at iTunes App Store.

Beware iPhone Unlockers: Apple iOs 4.2.1 Has A Baseband Requirements

11/26/2010 05:48:00 AM - 2 comments

It looks like the iPhone maker Apple has secretly imbedded “baseband requirements” traps on the freshly released iOS 4.2.1 operating system for iPhone jailbreakers and especially to iPhone unlockers. As reported by Semaphore, the developer of the popular TinyUmbrella program:

"It seems that Apple has decided to put a baseband requirement on iOS. So at this point, if you are using Saurik’s server or tiny umbrella and trying to restore 4.2.1 on an iPhone 4, you will end up in recovery mode and tiny umbrella will not be able to pull you out of recovery. In this case, you will have to restore 4.1 again or you will have to restore 4.2.1 stock and be tether jailbroken. (Of course, I recommend 4.1 and not bothering with 4.2.1 at all). If you are an unlocker, this is a no brainer. Do not update to 4.2.1 even to test it at this point."

Meaning, if you utilized Saurik’s server or the TinyUmbrella software to restore iOS 4.2.1 on an iPhone without upgrading your baseband, you will end up in recovery mode and TinyUmbrella has no capability to pull you out of recovery. So, the best thing to do for all iPhone unlockers out there is to STAY AWAY from Redsn0w 0.9.6b4, the first jailbreak tool developed by iPhone Dev Team that jailbreaks the iOS 4.2.1, and from the iOS 4.2.12 firmware. Do not even tempt to test it o it will lose your ability to unlock your iPhone. As usual, stays tuned for more news and visit our affiliate site, ziPhone News, to know more about iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak and iPhone unlock.

Update To iOS 4.2 Or Not?

11/25/2010 09:43:00 AM - 1 comments

As you know, Apple released their long awaited iOS 4.2 on Monday and there are a large number of people who are wondering whether or not to upgrade their devices. Many are also wondering if the new upgrade is worth it or not. The first thing that you need to do before even attempting to upgrade to the iOS 4.2 is to determine whether or not your device is compatible or not.

Once you know this, there are a few things that you really need to think about before you upgrade and I have detailed all of these below.

All iOS Devices:
No matter what iOS device you have be it an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch you need to back up all your data first. This includes synching your notes, contacts, apps etc. You need to make sure that you have something to revert back to if your upgrade doesn’t go as planned. There are some occasions where phones can actually brick with an update and that last thing you want is to lose all your phone numbers and data.

Jailbroken iOS Devices:
If you have a device that has already been jailbroken then we advise that you hold off on upgrading to iOS 4.2 just yet especially if you want to keep your device jailbroken. There are jailbreaks that are currently available for the iPad 4.2 and iPhone 4.2 but there are some issues with getting Cydia to run on iOS 4.2.1 GM at the moment and the experts are working on ensuring that everything is working fine before they give the go ahead. This will probably only take a day or two so a little bit of patience on your part is required if you want to retain your jailbreak and upgrade to iOS 4.2.

Unlocked iOS Devices
If you have an unlocked iPhone you are advised to avoid upgrading to the new iOS 4.2. You need to wait until there is a proven way to unlock your iPhone again before you update your phone. If you update an unlocked device without having a new unlock in place you could leave your phone useless as updating will lock your phone to Apple’s carrier and no working with your current carrier. You will ultimately have no phone to use so it really is advisable to wait until a proven unlock has been made available.THE REST OF THE POST HERE(between these two SPAN`s, so dont edit them.) or delete them.Just remove this text and copy in the rest of the article.

Bespoke Sim Out Unlock In

11/24/2010 12:28:00 PM - 0 comments

It seems that Apple has cancelled their plans for an iPhone that comes with an embedded SIM that could be used for any operator’s network. This comes as carriers rage over attempt to dilute their relationship with the consumer and it looks like the carriers are winning the battle too at this stage.

It was hoped that open access would be made available but according to reports, Apple has backed away from a bespoke SIM for the iPhone 5. This would have allowed Apple to provide consumers with a choice of contracts and activation of new users with the input from cellco. There is talk however of keeping this plan for the iPad so hopefully it will be made available at some stage.

Apply already uses its own SIM cards in the iPad and any user that wants an unlocked iPad has to buy the microSIM from Apple or one of their approved carriers. This microSIM card is likely to be replaced by the new product that Apple has been developing for their next iPhone. This will be easier to introduce with the iPad as operators do not subsidize the iPad and all their offer are month by month data plans.

For iPhone users it means that unlocking is still necessary if you want to have control over which network carrier you use and this is set to stay in place for quite some time. There are plenty of applications that will allow you to unlock your iPhone to any carrier and there are full tutorials available on this blog also. Having control over your iPhone is important because it lets you choose what operator you want to use and you can also avoid steep roaming charges too when you unlock your iPhone because all you have to do is replace your SIM card when you are travelling.

Jailbreak Update: Download Redsn0w 0.9.6b4, Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 On Any iDevices Using Redsn0w

11/24/2010 10:39:00 AM - 0 comments

The Cupertino, California-based Apple has already implemented their new operating system, the iOS version 4.2.1, for all iDevices. The good news is, the iPhone Dev Team also rolled out the latest version of Redsn0w jailbreak tool to jailbreak the iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4G,iPod Touch 3G, iPad, and even AppleTV 2G. Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 is available for both Mac and Windows users.

The iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 utilizes GeoHot’s bootrom exploit used in the Limera1n jailbreak tool for iOS 4.1. The bad news is, the latest version of Redsn0w jailbreak tool is a tethered jailbreak. Meaning, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (older version), and iPod touch 2G (non-Mc Model) users will greatly benefited from the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak using Redsn0w. And all owners of the iPhone 4/3GS (new bootroom), iPad, and iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G (non-MC Model) devices will have to reattach to a PC or Mac to boot into a jailbroken state every time their devices loses power or needs a reboot.

“A tethered jailbreak means that each time your device loses battery power or needs to be rebooted, you must attach it to a PC or Mac to boot into the jailbroken state.”

All iPhone unlockers MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and do not update your firmware to iOS 4.2.1 It’s recommended that to wait for the Dev Team to release the updated version of PwnageTool for iOS 4.2.1 so that you can use the Ultrasn0w unlock to unlock your iPhone.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 using this link. We also have an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.6b4.

Jailbreak Update: Greenpois0n For iOS 4.2.1 Update Coming Soon

11/23/2010 04:17:00 PM - 0 comments

We have some good news to all jailbreakers, the hacker/developer Joshua Hill made an announcement on his Twitter account that the Chronic Dev Team is working hard to update and release the Greenpois0n jailbreak tool within few days to jailbreak the recently released Apple operating system, the iOS 4.2.1. The forthcoming GreenPois0n update will bring tethered or semitethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 devices.

"GreenPois0n should be updated to support 4.2.1 (tethered or semitethered) within a few days."

For those of you who aren’t aware, the Chronic Dev Team’s Greenpois0n jailbreak software tool is based on GeoHot’s Limera1n SHAtter exploit which is another bootrom exploit which has already pwned all current Apple iOS devices.

If you want to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch with Greenpois0n tool, you will have to wait for a couple of days. All jailbreakers and unlockers are advised to stay away from the iOS update for while. The software update will also update the baseband value of your iDevice, and you will not get another chance to unlock your device.

iOS 4.2 Lets You Print Wirelessly On Your iPhone

11/23/2010 02:15:00 PM - 0 comments

Apple released the much awaited iOS 4.2 on Monday and this will now allow iDevice owners to print wirelessly over Wi-Fi networks. If you own an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad this is sure to be great news for you.

Some of the features of the new iOS 4.2 were first listed at the media event that took place in September and the release has been highly anticipated ever since. If you already own an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad then you know that these devices don’t have printer ports and this is going to make the AirPrint feature one of the biggest things for many users. Using this new feature you will be able to find printers on home networks and you will also be able to sent text documents or photographs directly to the printer via Wi-Fi.

This sounds amazing but I must point out that to start iDevices will only work directly with certain Hewlett-Packard printers. This is a bit disappointing but I’m sure this will change in time too.

The iOS 4.2 software update also includes a feature called AirPlay which allows the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to send video, music and photos directly to a TV screen using the Apple TV set top box. This means that someone who is watching a movie on an iPad could switch to watching it on their TV with just a few little taps. Special AirPlay speakers are also set to be released in the coming months too.

If you are one of the many people out there who are always losing their phones then you will love the fact that Apple are making their Fine My iPhone app available for free to anyone who owns an iPhone 4, an iPad or the latest iPod Touch. This app helps people find their missing device on a map and they can also remotely lock it just in case.

The iOS 4.2 update has a lot of great features including being able to consolidate multiple e-mail accounts into one inbox, play games with other Apple device owners and much more. You can upgrade to the new iOS 4.2 by synching your device with iTunes.

iOS 4.2 software Update: Features Multitasking, AirPrint, AirPlay, And More

11/23/2010 11:33:00 AM - 0 comments

At long last, Apple has finally released that highly-anticipated iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The final version of apple operating system iOS 4.2 sports numerous changes. Some of the notable changes iOS are the Multitasking ability, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, that were earlier available only on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Additional kewy features includes the AirPlay and AirPrint.

“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit."

The new operating system adds an ability to users to stream a video to an AppleTV box through Apple's AirPlay. In addition, through AirPrint, Apple's wireless printing feature, iDevice users will have an ability to print their files and photos over Wi-Fi without the need to install drivers or download software. AirPrint currently supports certain HP printers, such as HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro, and HP Officejet.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 with OpenSSH to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1

11/22/2010 02:02:00 PM - 2 comments

Yesterday, the iPhone Dev-Team has released that updated version of Redsn0w jailbreak tool (version 0.9.6b3) which has a capability to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 GM running on all compatible iOS devices, such as the iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G. The release also includes OpenSSH, OpenSSL, and the basic apt installer programs.

At the moment, the current public release of Cydia is not compatible with the recently launched iOS 4.2.1 GM but with OpenSSH and OpenSSL SSH bundle, developers/users will be able to install packages without Cydia through utilizing the tethered boot option in Redsn0w 0.9.6b3.

From the iPhone Dev Team blog:

“We’ve made some updates to redsn0w to make it easier for jailbreak developers (and tinkerers) to get their programs ready for 4.2.1. As noted in Update #2 above, the public version of Cydia (and MobileSubstrate too!) is not 4.2.1-compatible. redsn0w will now let you install your own custom bundles independent of Cydia (the bundle can actually be Cydia if you’ve compiled it on your own). These bundles can be up to 15MB in size, and should be in the form of a gzip-compressed tar file.”

"It’s very important that you get the file permissions and ownerships right in your custom redsn0w bundles. To give you a practical example of such a bundle, here’s one that includes OpenSSH, OpenSSL, and the basic apt installer programs:"

The instructions to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 GM on iPhone 4/3GS/3G and iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G with Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 are quite similar in the jailbreak tutorials posted here. Use this link to download SSH Bundle and Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 for Mac and Windows. Stay tuned for more jailbreak and iPhone news updates.

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 GM On iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G, And iPad Using Redsn0w 0.9.6b2

11/22/2010 08:18:00 AM - 0 comments

Apple has released the latest version of its iOS operating system, iOS 4.2.1 Gold Master, to Apple developers. The latest GM version of iOS works on Apple's iDevices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The public release of the final version of Apple's operating system iOS 4.2 is expected very soon.

The good thing is, this new build can already be jailbroken using RedSn0w 0.9.6b2. However, even the fact that jailbreak procedures of iOS 4.2.1 GM is successful; the Cydia App doesn’t work smoothly on these iOS versions.

Jailbreakers relying on unlock should stay away from it because it will update your baseband, and most likely make it impossible for you to unlock for a while.

Jailbreaking iOS 4.2.1 GM is fairly easy; all you have to do is to download RedSn0w 0.9.6 b2 and follow our RedSn0w jailbreaking tutorial. The tutorial will work on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G, iPad and iPod Touch.

Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 and 3GS with Limera1n

11/20/2010 11:02:00 AM - 1 comments
Greenpois0n was due to be released on the 10th of October so it was a big surprise to everyone when GeoHot released their new jailbreaking tool called Limera1n. GeoHot is responsible for developing blackra1n so we can expect great this from Limera1n. GeoHot stated on their official website and on the iPhone Dev Team’s Blog that Limera1n is a bootrom level jailbreak too and it works on the iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and the iPad. It can also technically work with the Apple TV 2G as well. What’s worth noting, is the fact that Limera1n does not rely on the SHAtter exploit which is good news when you consider the amount of iDevices this jailbreak works on. Limera1n uses a different bootrom based exploit and this is why it can do so much.

More Information About Limera1n

Limera1n is currently in beta release and this means that it is now fully stable and there may be some bugs to be ironed out. If you are feeling adventurous and you don’t have time to wait around for the final version of this tool to be released you can go ahead and download and use the Limera1n tool. Before you rush ahead and do this here is some things that you need to know about the Limera1n tool.

• Limera1n is a jailbreak tool only and it won’t unlock your phone. If you currently rely on ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone then you are advised not to upgrade to iOS 4.1 just yet. The iPhone Dev Team is working on an upgrade for the PwnageTool jailbreak that will allow you to upgrade to iOS 4.1 without changing your baseband.
• Limera1n only works on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G running the iOS 4.1. It will also work on the iPad that is running the iOS 3.2.2. If you have an iPhone 3G you will need to use the Redsn0w jailbreak tool.
• Limera1n is an untethered jailbreak tool.
• Limera1n is only avialable for Windows users at the moment and GeoHot are working on a Mac and Linux version which will be released at a later date.
• Limera1n does not support the beta version of iOS so if you are running this on your iDevice this jailbreak tool won’t work.
• There is one known bug that has been identified. If Cydia does not appear on your iDevice after running Limera1n you need to reboot your device.

On another note I want to say that with the launch of Limerea1n it means that Greenpois0n will no longer be released. According to the iPhone Dev Team the launch of Limera1n has averted the burning of 2 bootrom holes at one and that releasing SHAtter at this time would be a complete waste and they will now wait until Apple closes Limera1n’s hole.

Official Google Voice App For Apple iPhone Available On iTunes App Store for Free Download

11/19/2010 11:51:00 AM - 0 comments

The Cupertino, California –based Apple has finally rendered its approval for the official Google Voice App for iPhone. The Internet search giant Google had previously attempted to offer a Google Voice app for Apple’s iPhone earlier this year, however, the iPhone maker rejected the app because of the fact that the app “duplicated functionality”, in which iPhone users can make a voice call and send text messages using Google assigned mobile number. For those who aren’t aware what Google Voice is, it is a Voice-over IP (VOIP) service which diverts all outgoing calls to Google’s own servers and allows users to make cheap or free phone calls using their mobile. Incoming calls will be routed normally over the caller’s network and there will be no extra charge. The official Google Voice app currently available and works in the US only and, of course, iPhone users must have a Google Voice account to utilize the service.

As for compatibility, Google Voice app works on iOS 3.0 iPhones and above. The app is available right now as a free download from the iTunes App Store. Visit ziPhone News to find out more about Google Voice App.

Update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 Without Upgrading Your Baseband

11/19/2010 09:58:00 AM - 1 comments

If you have unlocked your iPhone 4 and you want to upgrade to the iOS 4.1 without losing your unlock then I have great news for you today. You can actually upgrade to the iOS 4.1 without upgrading the Baseband from 1.59.00 to 2.10.04.

The Apple iOS 4.1 firmware has some really great features such as a Game Centre, HDR photography and HD video uploading to YouTube. All these features come with the iOS 4.1 and if you haven’t already upgraded because of an unlock problem then here is how you can solve that.

Below I have listed that steps that you need to take to save the ECID SHSH (SHSH blobs) of the iOS 4.1 on the iPhone 4. If you follow these you will be able to upgrade to the iOS 4.1 without having to upgrade your current baseband and lose your unlock.

1. The first thing that you have to do is download and install TinyUmbrella and Apple iTunes 10.1.

2. Once you have this done the next thing to do is to launch TinyUmbrella and connect your iPhone 4 to your computer. If you are running Windows 7 you might encounter a Windows Security Alert so you will have to click on the allow access button to continue.

3. Make sure that you have iTunes installed and running on your computer.

4. Connect your iDevice, this could be an iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch 4G, 3G or 2G, or an iPad. Now all you have to do is wait for TinyUmbrella to detect your device.

5. The next step is to click on the Save My SHSH button.

6. That’s all there is to it, TinyUmbrella will actually make the request through Cydia so that Cydia will have your device’s SHSH signatures on file immediately. You will then have two copies of ECID SHSH on one local file in the .shsh directory of the home directory. The other copy is stored on the Saurik’s servers.

If you want to try out the new iOS 4.1 then all you have to do is follow these steps. There are some great things waiting for you when you do.

Apple Releases iOS 4.2.1 GM Build Version For iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G, and iPad (Wifi+3G), iOS 4.2 Canceled?

11/19/2010 09:23:00 AM - 0 comments

Another Gold Master iOS version. The Cupertino, California-based Apple today released the iOS 4.2.1 GM seed (Build: 8C148). Like other GM seeds, this firmware is also meant for registered iOs apps developers only. The new GM version is available for all iOS 4.x devices, such as iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G, and iPad (Wifi+3G). Just a couple of days ago, Apple rolled out an updated version of iOS 4.2 GM to address the Wi-Fi connection issues for iPad. This is definitely a surprise move from the company as the tech world was expecting the final version of iOS 4.2 and not another GM seed. At the moment, it is not quite sure what was changed in iOS 4.2.1 gold master as compared to iOS 4.2 GM.

However, a reliable source of Macstories who has an inside connection within Apple confirmed that the company released the iOS 4.2.1 build internally last night to fix major Exchange and audio devices issues. These issues were also documented on the official Apple’s developer/support forums. The report also suggests that that the iPhone maker might release iOS 4.2.1 publicly next week, meaning, Apple might skip iOS 4.2 altogether.

Google Allows Google Docs Editing Through Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

The Internet search giant Google Inc. has made a huge announcement yesterday, and Google Docs users should celebrate as they are now going to edit all their Google Docs files from their iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, as well as Android 2.2 smartphones in real time.

Previously, Google launched the mobile version of Google Docs which allow users to users to view documents in read-only mode. So due to the introduction of Google Docs on the iOs Device, Google will be able to compete effectively with Apple’s uber-popular iWorks suite of apps for iPad as well as other third party applications which includes Quickoffice and Documents to Go.

The Google Docs Mobile Editing will be implemented over the next few days and means that:

  • You can work on that important memo...while on the bus or train to work.

  • You can take minute-by-minute notes at a concert so you’ll always remember the setlist. And your friends can jealously follow in real-time at home.
  • ...and the list goes on!

If you utilize Google Docs all you have to do is visi docs.google.com using iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad using Safari (Android users can use whatever internet browser they have to visit the site) and choose the document that you would like to edit. Have a look at te video posted at ziPhone News. It's actually pretty amazing.

If you are looking for a way to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod running iOS 4.1 then I have great news for you today. Sn0wbreeze 2.1 has just been released and is available for download. This software tool can also be used to jailbreak the iPad running on iOS 3.2.2.

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 is a tool that is only available for windows at the moment and it can jailbreak your iPod, iPhone, iPad and even your Apple TV. You can use this tool to activate your iPhone, root partition size and install SSH. If you have a 3G phone you can also setup custom boot logos.

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 is similar to the Pwnage Tool for Mac OS users and windows users can also build custom firmware without using the upgraded baseband from the official iOS 4.1. This allows you to unlock your iPhone using the latest version of Ultrasn0w. Whilst this is great news for anyone that wants to jailbreak their iPhone or other iDevice the one thing you have to be aware of is the fact that Sn0wbreeze 2.1 will not jailbreak the iOS 4.2 so if you rely on a jailbroken iPhone or iDevice do not upgrade to the new iOS 4.2 when it is released or you phone will be locked again.

Sn0wbreeze currently supports the following devices:

• iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G
• iPad (iOS 3.2.2)
• iPod touch 4G, 3G or 2G
• Apple TV 2G

To use the Sn0wbreeze 2.1 software tool you will need to have Windows XP, Vista or 7 (32 or 64 bit) and the NET framework 2.0.

Apple To Sue 17 Year Old

11/17/2010 02:52:00 PM - 0 comments

Apple have been causing a lot of drama with the release of their white iPhone 4. First of all it was delayed and due to be released in the Spring of 2011 and now it has actually been removed from their website. It seems now however that Apple could actually be preparing to bring a law suit in a bid to protect their white iPhone 4 trademark.

This all comes after a 17 year old from New York actually make $130,000 after he sold more than 500 white iPhone 4 devices. The student who has not been named made this money after he sold a kit that contained white iPhone 4 parts. What he sold was in fact white coloured front and back panels, a white home button and tool and instructions so that people could get the white version of their phone. He sold all this for $300 which included the cost of the phone.

According to sources, this student actually managed to convince Faxconn who is the iPhone manufacturer to send him the parts that he needed to put his kit together. The student has not been contacted by Apple but seemingly they are preparing to sue him for the $130,000 that he made selling his kit. The student has received a threatening letter saying that his parts are either counterfeit or stolen. I’m not sure whether or not to believe all of this or whether it is Apple’s way of keeping themselves in the limelight. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

On another note Apple is still delaying the release of their iOS 4.2 causing even more controversy with their iPhone 4. The iOS 4.2 was supposed to have been released last week but so far there is no sign of it.

Jailbreak iOS 4.0 & 4.1 on iPhone 4 & 3GS Tutorial Using Limera1n

11/17/2010 10:45:00 AM - 10 comments
As I’m sure you already know, Geohut has released their very much available jailbreaking tool called Limera1n. This amazing new tool has the ability to jailbreak iOS 4.0 and 4.1 on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the iPod Touch 3G and 4G and the iPad. If you have an iPhone 4 or 3GS and you are running iOS 4.1 on the new or old bootrom then the following step by step tutorial is all you need.

Steps To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 and 3GS with Limera1n:

  • 1. The first thing that you have to do is download Limera1n. The link for this is http://www.limera1n.com/limera1n.exe

  • 2. Once you have downloaded your tool the next thing you need to do is download and install iTunes 10.0.1

  • 3. Next you need to connect your iPhone to your PC and start iTunes.

  • 4. You need to ensure that your iPhone is running on stock iOS 4.0 or iOS 4.1. It is worth noting that if you have an unlocked iPhone do not under any circumstances upgrade to iOS 4.1 using iTunes. If you do it will upgrade your baseband to 05.14.02 on the iPhone 3GS and 2.10.04 on the iPhone 4. If you are using an iPhone 4 you can upgrade to iOS 4.1 without affecting your baseband by using TinyUmbrella.

  • 5. Next you need to launch the Limera1n.exe file. The image below is what you should see.

6. You need to click on the make it ra1n button. When you do this Limera1n will automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode and you will see the image below.

7. While your iPhone is in recovery mode you will see the image below being displayed on your iPhone screen.

8. You need to now hold the Home+Power buttons on your iPhone and keep an eye on what the Limera1n tool is displaying.

9. When the release power button is displayed by Limera1n you can release the power button. Make sure that you keep holding the Home button though.

10. You need to keep holding the Home button until the Limera1n screen displays in DFU mode.

11. Once you have the image above you need to wait a couple of moments while Limera1n actually jailbreaks your device. When this has been completed you will see the following message being displayed.

12. You will also receive a message saying that your jailbreak has been completed. Next all you have to do is turn on your device and you will see that the Limera1n app has been installed on your iPhone. You can then launch this app and you will be able to install Cydia from here. Once Cydia has been installed successfully you will be able to remove the Limera1n app.

That’s all there is to it.

iPhone iOS 4.2 Unlock Update

11/13/2010 05:37:00 PM - 0 comments

Apple are getting set to release their iOS 4.2 any day now and because of this there are a few things that you need to keep in mind. If you own an iPhone and know how to jailbreak and what it is involved you probably already know all of this but for new jailbreakers there are some mistakes that you could make that you really will regret.

The Dev Team have posted an update on their blog detailing what you can expect with the new iOS 4.2. They have also provided information on what to do and of course what not to do. I have taken the liberty of providing you with a quick summary below.

• The Dev Team have confirmed that all iOS firmwares can be jailbroken which is great news for idevice owners.

• The untethered status of a jailbreak depends mostly on Comex and the ability to extend it to iOS 4.2. So far in trials this has works on iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2 beta 3. The Dev Team have also stated that there is good reason to believe that they will have an untethered 4.2 jailbreak available.

• There will also be an unlock for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS so if you own one of these devices and you want to unlock it you need to make sure that you don’t update it to iOS 4.2 when it is released until the Dev Team gives the green light to do so.

• So far the Dev Team have not been able to produce an unlock for the iPhone 4 on the iOS 4.2 but they have found a couple of holes and they are working on these. They will know more and be able to update everyone a little bit more after iOS 4.2 has been released. If you are one of the many who rely on an unlock for their iPhone 4, do not update it to iOS 4.2 until the Dev Team have announced an unlock solution.

These were the main points from the Dev Team blog post and as soon as they have any further information and updates you can be sure they will announce them. Until Apple release iOS 4.2 there really is very little that can be done but you can be sure that as soon as the launch goes live the Dev Team will be working hard to ensure that their unlock and jailbreak follows very quickly.
