Good news iPhone and Skype users. Just few days after we reported that Skype video-calling is coming to selected iOS device, now Skype for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch has received a major update bringing it up to version 3.0.

Skype app version 3.0 brings the highly-anticipated mobile video calling to iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G. Skype mobile video calling is set to compete against Apple’s Facetime video chat. However, Skype has a bit advantage because users will be able to use both Wi-Fi and AT&T Inc.'s 3G cellular network. Apple’s Facetime is restricted to just WiFi only. Skype users who make video calls using 3G will get a bit data costs.

Some of notable key features of Skype version 3.0 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch include:

• Make Skype to Skype video calls on WiFi and 3G*
• Call Skype desktop users (Mac OS X or Windows) and other iPhone users.
• Two-way video calls supported on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen.
• Receive only video supported on iPad and iPod touch 3rd gen, with no camera.
• Make video calls in portrait and landscape.
• Skype video calling requires iOS 4.0 or above.

Because of the sure success f the Skype video calling inn iOS-based device, some experts speculated that the company will also introduce the mobile video calling into Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 handsets.

Skype app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.
