Apple released the much awaited iOS 4.2 on Monday and this will now allow iDevice owners to print wirelessly over Wi-Fi networks. If you own an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad this is sure to be great news for you.

Some of the features of the new iOS 4.2 were first listed at the media event that took place in September and the release has been highly anticipated ever since. If you already own an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad then you know that these devices don’t have printer ports and this is going to make the AirPrint feature one of the biggest things for many users. Using this new feature you will be able to find printers on home networks and you will also be able to sent text documents or photographs directly to the printer via Wi-Fi.

This sounds amazing but I must point out that to start iDevices will only work directly with certain Hewlett-Packard printers. This is a bit disappointing but I’m sure this will change in time too.

The iOS 4.2 software update also includes a feature called AirPlay which allows the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to send video, music and photos directly to a TV screen using the Apple TV set top box. This means that someone who is watching a movie on an iPad could switch to watching it on their TV with just a few little taps. Special AirPlay speakers are also set to be released in the coming months too.

If you are one of the many people out there who are always losing their phones then you will love the fact that Apple are making their Fine My iPhone app available for free to anyone who owns an iPhone 4, an iPad or the latest iPod Touch. This app helps people find their missing device on a map and they can also remotely lock it just in case.

The iOS 4.2 update has a lot of great features including being able to consolidate multiple e-mail accounts into one inbox, play games with other Apple device owners and much more. You can upgrade to the new iOS 4.2 by synching your device with iTunes.
