Good news to all jailbreakers that depends on the iPhone unlock, I know that you’ve been waiting for this for a month. The iPhone Dev Team successfully releases the revamped version of Ultrasn0w (version 1.2) to unlock the latest version of Apple operating system, the iOS 4.2.1. Recently, hacker/developer MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team reports that he managed to get the ultrasn0w unlock tool working on iOS 4.21, and he even posted a picture to show the about screen of an iPhone that runs on iOS 4.2.1 under the T-Mobile network.

However, at the moment, the new carrier unlock tool only works on the iPhone 3GS and 3G. It might take a lot of time before the iPhone Dev Team launches a new tool that supports the iPhone 4. From the iPhone Dev Team blog:

“Today we’re pleased to announce our free carrier unlock for iPhone3G/3GS owners with a baseband later than 05.13.04. The unlock for that baseband exploited the AT+XAPP command, thanks to a crash initially discovered by @sherif_hashim (@Oranav also found this crash). So what hole are we exploiting today, since Apple closed that AT+XAPP hole? Well, we’re exploiting the exact same hole!”

In addition, jailbreakers and unlockers must be aware that the new unlock tool is quite special in comparison from the previous Ultrasn0w. In order for you to unlock your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G, you will need to get the revamped version of PwnageTool (version 4.1.3) and Redsn0w (version 0.9.6b5) and jailbreak it.
