Troubleshoot iOS 4 iDevice with No E-mail Previews

iPhone users have already reported several problems after upgrading their phones to iOS 4. Some have complained about functions becoming slow, while others can’t see a message preview for their emails.

After setting up a new account on an iOS 4 device, some users said the Mail App will not load message previews or any “message from” (No Sender).

No need to fret. A few simple steps can help alleviate the issue and have you back to your normal message-reading iPhone again.

First and foremost, ensure that the message previews are enabled for each of your Mail accounts. Navigate to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Preview. If the preview setting is set to "None", change the value to the desired amount of preview lines.

If your preview settings are set to show previews but you're still not seeing them in Mail, follow do the following:

1. Quit and reopen Mail.

2. Double-click the Home button to bring up the multitasking dock.

3. Tap and hold the Mail icon until the red minus sign appears.

4. Tap the red minus button to quit Mail and remove it from the recently used Apps list.

5. Double-click the Home button to return to your start screen and reopen the Mail App.

If you are using an older iOS device like an iPhone 3G or second-generation iPod Touch, all you need to do is to restart your iDevice by holding the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. No need to follow the steps mentioned above.
