Possible First Broken iPhone 4 Reported in Australia

The iPhone 4’s glass cover is not as hard and tough as Apple describes it. This has been proved by a recent incident in a Sydney iPhone repair shop that probably saw the first ever broken iPhone 4.Apple’s website describes the iPhone 4’s glass as follows:
“All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever.“
A Sydney iPhone repair shop has seen otherwise after the first broken model came through their door. Apparently, the young man who brought the phone in for repair dropped his phone when it slipped out of his hands because he was carrying too many things.
The young man was very sorry for not immediately putting an iPhone 4 cover. He was quoted as saying: “I didn't think it would shatter like that, I just thought it would be a small scratch."
The Sydney repair shop said the repair will cost $199, which is fairly much higher than repairs for 3G and 3GS models priced at around $129.
The iPhone 4 owner will bear the cost of repair because Apple’s warranty does not cover it if you drop it. Remember that it is always best to be careful with your devices. Better yet, protect your precious possessions – there is a multitude of cases in the market especially designed for the iPhone 4.
