A startup iPhone application has a promising solution to your stack of business cards that you carry around everywhere you go. CardMunch is a paid iPhone app that transcribes and organizes your business cards.CardMunch revolutionizes the way business cards are organized by adding it to your phone’s contacts info. Now, that would be a neat solution to the never ending clutter of business cards that often make searching for a contact impossible.
With CardMunch, all you need to do is open it in your iPhone’s app list, then focus your phone’s camera at a card for about three seconds to take a snapshot of a business card, and it adds it to your iPhone contacts.
Human card readers from around the world would then verify every card submitted to the CardMunch system and transcribe it manually, not through optical character recognition. This ensures that the contact information is copied accurately from the business card. After all, any wrong digit on a telephone number or email address will render the information useless. The information is then returned to your phone’s address book later in the day.
CardMunch CEO Bowei Gai says that CardMunch guarantees 100 percent accuracy and its turnaround time is quicker than its competitor apps. He added that his transcribers around the world could handle about 50,000 cards daily.
The app is on sale for $2.99 for 10 credits with each credit pack amounting to about $0.25 per card. It also offers a free version with five free card transcriptions as a sample.
