A recent photo analysis done by dating site OkCupid found that the type and brand of camera used to take your picture greatly affects the way you look in your photos. The analysis also noted that people whose pictures were taken with an iPhone were found to have had more sexual partners. You read it right! The data covers 30 year olds using various smartphones, particularly Android, Blackberry and iPhone. It came about as a result of data referring to the behavior of smartphone users in front of the camera. iPhone users were found to have more sexual partners than those using Android and Blackberry smartphones.
OkCupid's analysis also indicated that “the average 30 year-old male iPhone user has had (sexual relations) with ten people, BlackBerry owners have been with eight, while Android owners only had six partners.” The statistics for women were slightly higher than the men’s, with iPhone-owning females having had twelve partners.
The iPhone advantage also gave the same ranking for its younger users, with BlackBerry and Android owners taking second and third position, respectively, at every age surveyed.
OkCupid’s data came from its analysis of photography as regards to flash, focus, and aperture. It noted that the misuse of these three factors “can seriously mess up” your profile pictures.
OkCupid’s study was the result of its collection of 552,000 example user pictures which were paired and judged according to the person they would prefer going out with as seen from the pictures.
The study also mentioned that “the type and brand of camera used has a huge effect on how good you look in your pictures. More complex cameras take better pictures. Interchangable lens cameras also make you look more attractive than your basic point and shoot cameras.”
Lastly, it added that “there are peak times of the day to take a good picture” which would be during late nights and late afternoons.
