Skype for iOS 4 Now Supports Multitasking

The new Skype app for the iPhone and iPod touch has been released. This app has been updated so that it now supports the multitasking feature that comes with the iOS 4. Using this new app you can now receive calls and instant messages whilst the app is minimized in the multitasking tray of your Apple device.

Now you can run Skype in the background using the multitasking feature of the iOS 4. This means that you can now receive Skype calls and instant messages whilst other apps are running and even when your iPhone is locked. You can also continue your calls whilst switching to other apps too. The multitasking feature is only available with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

This is a great update to the Skype app and I am hoping that we will see further updates that will include Skype to Skype video chat for the iPhone 4 and support for the iPad too. If these updates are completed then this will really make the Skype app the must have for any Apple device.

The Skype app for the iPhone was first released back in March of 2009 and has proved popular ever since. There have only been a couple of updates during this time and I’m sure once the developers add the updates for video calling and iPad support this app will prove to be one of the top app for all Apple users.

If you use Skype for your business IM or calls then you need to have this app on your idevice too. You can download the Skype app from the iTunes store so why not check it out and read all the features included with this app.
