Apple has been launching new products left and right – from new Mac Pros to new iMacs, iPhone 4s, Magic Trackpads, etcetera, etcetera. In all of this frenzy, customers failed to notice the most important item that would help power their devices. Apple has recently introduced its Apple Battery Charger. Tiny as it may seem, Apple is proud of its new “sleek and very compact” battery charger. In fact, they made sure that ample talk time was devoted to this new item.
Apple said it was able to perfect the product that other companies may have taken for granted adding that, “The honest truth is that most [manufacturers] don’t care about these.”
Apple claimed they were able to produce a product that performs ten times better than the average battery chargers sold in stores. An Apple representative disclosed that their charger only uses 30 milliwatts when it completes a charge cycle as compared to other chargers with 300 or more milliwatts charge cycle.
Apple’s website has this to say for its battery charger:
“The Apple Battery Charger has one of the lowest standby power usage values — or "vampire draw" — of similar chargers on the market. That’s the energy that most chargers continue to draw even after their batteries are done charging. Unlike other chargers, the Apple Battery Charger senses when a battery charge cycle is complete and automatically reduces the amount of power it uses to 30 milliwatts.”
The item sells for $29. What’s more, it comes with six rechargeable AA NiMH batteries with very long shelf lives. Apple’s website claims that “Not only do these high-performance batteries have up to a 10-year lifespan, they also hold a charge for an incredibly long time.”
