Apple has announced that the unlocked iPhone 4 will be available to people in Canada and 16 other countries from Friday the 30th of July 2010. This is great news for Canadian customers who will be able to get an unlocked iPhone 4 at their Apple retail stores. This will mean that they will be able to by an unlocked iPhone 4 without a SIM card and they will then be able to choose their choice of carrier.

Customers in Canada will have a choice of three carriers which are Bell, Rogers or Telus. According to the CBC the iPhone 4 is compatible with all three companies so customers can choose which carrier provides the best service for them.

With the SIM free iPhone 4 customers will be able to switch providers whenever they choose and they will also be able to use their iPhone in other countries using SIM cards from local carriers which will mean that they won’t have to put up with high roaming charges. This is great news and a SIM card will cost between $5 and $10. The iPhone 4 16GB model will cost $659 and the 32GB model will cost $779 for people in Canada.

Will this be an option in US? What are the chances this option will be valid with older iphones soon. Why are we sooooo, determined to love a product that can not be used to its fullest. I am so locked on getting an iphone, But I will not ay what at&t are asking its ludicrous. I love my iphone but it might as well be an itouch. I do not get any phone benifis at all from it. As I have seen all other BL versions be able to be unlocked, 6.04 can not. I feel slightly ripped off. I would pay to have this problem resolved, but unless Apple does it, I am not so trusting to ship it anywhere. All i want to do is use My Iphone.
