Good news for Apple iPhone 4 fans who are now counting the days until July 30th. Apple announced that it will be distributing the phone to 17 more countries on Friday. The phones will be available through Apple's retail and online stores, and its authorized resellers.Apple said the phones will also be sold in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland simultaneously.
Observers, however, noticed that during the iPhone 4’s launching last June, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that it will also be distributing the phone in South Korea. Earlier this month, Jobs was quoted as saying, “The South Korean launch has been delayed due to things taking just a little bit longer to get government approval there."
A representative from its partner carrier KT and a government official were surprised by this statement. They disclosed that Apple has yet to submit the device for approval.
Now Shipping!
On the other hand, Apple has already begun shipping free bumpers to a number of iPhone 4 customers in the United Kingdom. This came as a welcome surprise considering that Apple initially quoted three to five weeks delivery of the ordered Apple bumpers.
It has also started notifying customers who paid for the bumpers via credit cards that their accounts have already been credited. For customers who paid through cash, checks, or gift cards from Apple retail stores, they can avail of their refunds as soon as they visit the store where they made the purchase.
What about customers who ordered online using Apple gift cards? These customers are assured that they will automatically receive new gift cards for the purchase amount. Lastly, for customers who bought bumpers through AT&T retail stores, Apple requires them to mail a filled out rebate coupon, including the sales receipt, by September 30th in order to process their refund.
