If you are of those who wished Digg existed on iPhone too, here is good news for you. Social news aggregator Digg.com has released its free iPhone app in the App Store – the faster and more elegant alternative to the Digg mobile website. The app packed with an efficient, feature-rich interface is seamlessly easy to Digg or bury a submission. Apart from that, you will have immediate access to browse popular stories on Digg as soon as you launch the app.
Digg iPhone app lets you search through stories by typing a keyword in a search field. You can also view popular stories by topic - technology, business, science, and even browse through upcoming articles that are about to hit the popularity charts. The Digg app is available for free download now in the App Store.
How it works….
Digg iPhone App, you just need to tap a link to launch the story inside an in-app browser; to cast your vote, there is a bar below which contains thumbs up and thumbs down. The app also has a function which allows you to save a story for reading later with just the press of a button.
Some other interesting features include being able to move swiftly around categories along with bookmarking them for later use. You can also share Digg story pages or the source content through e-mail and social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
What’s missing?
The Digg app for the iPhone is fabulous; however, there is still room for improvement and analysts are optimistic to see them in reality in version 2. A major limitation is that the app does not allow you to comment on stories like you would on Digg.com. You can view comments posted the users on the Digg website, but you can’t actually write any using the iPhone interface, which just cuts short the stories/discussion from being lively.
Apart from that, limited interaction is allowed between the Digg app and other apps i. e. you are not able to hit a button to share Digg links through Twitter, Facebook or e-mail. So, if you’re browsing your Twitter feed in Tweetie and you tap a Digg link, it doesn’t launch the Digg app.
