ZiPhone 2.5... WoW !!!!!!!

ZiPhone 2.5 is now on download site for
you all to enjoy.
I decided to release it for everyone since MANY
are helping supporting sponsors.
And it would not have been fair to them.
I suggest you to do a restore to 1.1.4
not an update. Because installer keeps old
installed apps in it's cache and you would have problems.
Hoping people at nullriver software resolve that soon.
After restore to 1.1.4, just use "ziphone -Z Y" or the first
button on GUI versions.

Have fun !
And thanks to everyone for supporting and caring!

Stay tuned ! More interesting things are coming up on this site!

ZiPhone.org is proud to release the first 5
localized sites!

Thanks to the "non-work-all-fun" of talented people
and the great coordination done by Tissy
they are finally ready for you to enjoy.

As usual all donations on localized sites
will directly go to the site maintainers.
(the youngest is only 14! an amazing kiddie!!)

2/26/2008 07:46:00 PM - 215 comments

ZiPhone will soon work with 1.1.4.

But I need to FULLY test it and
do a few

In the meanwhile, enjoy the KEY :)

Stay tuned.

People who donated will receive the next version a day before everyone else.

Expect a new version in 2 days (3 days for non-donors) :P

ZiPhone IS and will always be FREE.
NOTE: If you have a contract and activation
you can ALREADY use ziphone to jailbreak
and install applications on 1.1.4 !

Italian site READY !

Photo taken by Zibri himself during the italian tour !

Here we go !
More languages to come shortly.
Go and see it and donate!
Money donated on the italian site goes
directly to the translator and manager.
And thank her !

While you wait...

2/23/2008 03:34:00 PM - 21 comments

While you wait, let me entertain you
with something particular...
This short movie has been written and directed
by Andrea Saraceni, a very talented
italian scriptwriter and director.
I liked that from the first time I saw it (years ago).
I hope you will enjoy it as I do.

I can almost TOUCH it...

2/22/2008 04:00:00 PM - 67 comments

As I stated many times, ZiPhone was not even intended for
the iTouch. But you know...they are so similar...
The "problem" with 1.1.3 iTouch is that the bootloader
is a little different. Yesterday I had the time to disassemble it.
20 minutes later I found exactly what I expected and where I expected it to be.
Allow me some more tests to make you totally safe.
And expect news soon.
maybe I was too tired.. nothing seems proving it doesn't work.
So I took some of the donated money and ordered a 32gb Touch.
It will be here in a few days...
I'll keep you posted as usual..

Stay tuned!

The return of the GUI !

Some facts:

  • ZiPhone never bricked an iPhone not even during first personal tests.

  • ZiPhone actually repaired many previously bricked iPhones.

  • 99% of "bugs" I have been reported are for the same reason.

  • ZiPhone never touches internal security data. -i option just fakes them.

You can restore the phone to "refurbished" state just issuing:
ziphone -e

then ziphone -D and do a full restore to any os. (thieves, you are warned!)

Some common mistakes:

iTunes should not be killed. ZiPhone is against violence :)
and just ignores it and it's helper.

OSX users often have vmware running.
ZiPhone and iTunes must run on the same OS.
When doing a full restore with -D option, set
the phone as a new phone in iTunes and sync back
your data. That's the most common mistake.
The reason: data backed up from previous
jailbroken iPhones is wrong for a real 1.1.3 OS.
When you open Installer for the first time,
refresh sources, then install BSD Subsystem
from the System category before installing anything else !
About the "low space issue", there is a utility
you can find in Installer that can move the
application directory to the second iPhone
partition thus allowing you to have has many
application your brain could bear :)
If you want to have the Z icon back after deleting,
there is a 'secret' option that restores only the icon
hint: it was meant for test)
The options of ZiPhone are case sensitive! I did that
on purpose to allow people to focus before issuing
commands and read the usage.

Enough said for now,

ZiPhone 2.4 (Your best friend!)

Even easier than before !
This for you wonderful people !

Here we are. 2.3 is out.

Read the README.txt file for changelog.

OSX GUI Version will be up in a few minutes.

...and enjoy my coffee :)

ZiPhone 2.2

2/15/2008 12:24:00 PM - 235 comments

Please accept my apologies.
A stupid bug in 2.1 didn't allow my "Z" icon to be deleted
and caused some minor problems.
A stupid typo.
In the download frame you now have ZiPhone 2.2.
Nothing changed. Bug removed.
And now some rest.. then back for new features shortly
in the next days..
Thanks to joserg for the picture!
ZiPhone never bricked a phone so far.
IPSF or 'freeipsf' users can't upgrade to 4.03.. because isf method corrupts
the baseband (and apple checked that in 4.03).
You can still use ziphone -u option.
Yesterday I was very tired and just put the wrong windows exe in the archive.

ZiPhone 2.1 is here to serve...

2/14/2008 07:18:00 PM - 142 comments

Here we are with ZiPhone 2.1.
Corrected the "apple logo bug".
Removed -v option (now it's always booting in verbose mode)
Added integrity check on zibri.dat.
Added 2 .BAT files for windows newbies :)
Updated README.txt
OSX versions updated.
"One is glad to be of service."

ZiPhone 2.0 !!! (game over!)

2/13/2008 07:53:00 PM - 319 comments
ZiPhone v2.0 is finally OUT.
In the command line version, you will find a new
option "-b" be very careful with that!
I take no responsability if you brick your phone!
ZiPhone -b will downgrade bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9,
flash 4.03.13_G baseband version and
unlock it (in one shot!).
It worked for me on 2 ootb 1.1.2 phones.
It will work on 1.1.3 ootb phones too.
Other options are unchanged.
Do not forget to donate!
The future of ZiPhone will depend on you also !
If you can't code, or contribute in other ways,
just donate.
I think we won't need another version till the next firmware release :)
Peace out.
(To quote my favourite blogger)

For people who get stuck on apple logo.
Try to use: ZiPhone -v -b
That solved the problem for many people.

ZiPhone 1.2 is OUT !!!

2/13/2008 05:24:00 PM - 51 comments
New feature:

It now unlocks both 4.6 and 3.9 BL.
And it's autosensing.. just use -u !

You can now delete any version of anySIM :)

Download links are on the right.

I was tired to wait.
I fixed it.

Prepare for ZiPhone 2.0.

It will be out VERY SOON !

ZiPhone works on iTouch too !

2/13/2008 01:44:00 PM - 54 comments

Enjoy :)

2/13/2008 12:14:00 PM - 50 comments

Well i did this test:

1) entered DFU (black screen) mode.
2) fully restored to 1.1.3.
3) shutdown the phone and reboot.
4) run: ziphone -a -j -u from command line (latest archive)

The phone rebooted after 2 minutes.
Everything is ok.
Youtube works.

1) open installer.
2) update community sources.
3) goto System category and install BSD Subsystem.
4) in System category install openssh as well.

My pc is running windows XP sp2 with all patches.
Itunes 7.5 (completely uninstall itunes 7.6 http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698 ) then install 7.5 (i think 7.4.3 will work too)

And of course the latest archive of ziphone.
Unzip it in a directory.
1) open command prompt
2) cd to that directory
3) ziphone -a -j -u

Do not close itunes after restore.
Do not touch it's window.
Just wait 2 minutes.

When a new version of ZiPhone comes out,
delete the old version (the whole directory)
And use the new archive.
ZiPhone and zibri.dat must be of the same archive.

ZiPhone 1.1 OUT. (mac version too !) (link fixed)

2/13/2008 12:49:00 AM - 140 comments
New features:

no more need for recovery mode!
no more "difficult" things :)
just run ziphone and it will do everything for you :)

EXECUTABLE for OSX 10.4 (put in the same dir where you extracted the main archive above)

Actual program requirements for windows:

I use itunes 7.5 and a directory with the archive linked above for the tests.
I never had a problem and tested all options.

Since you reported some problems, I am now restoring a phone to 113 and launching ziphone -a -j -u ...

By the way, after restore the phone must be shutdown and rebooted before running ziphone (maybe you missed this step)

I'll keep you posted.

New Update ! (fixed)

2/12/2008 09:46:00 PM - 50 comments
OSX version fixed. (Thanks to pendor)

WINDOWS GUI: added (thanks to mlk)

Redownload file. NEW OPTION to ierase 3.9 bl basebands!
(This time i removed osx version because it still doesn't work)
Well.. I think that's enough testing... here you have ZiPhone !
It's by far the most simple program to setup your iPhone.
Just run it and you will see it.
Windows + OSX versions !
The source IS available at
The latest version of ZiPhone is always available at:

Details on how it works and WHY it works, will be released on the above site or wiki.
No 'dev-team' was directly involved with this work.
This program is based on the work of everyone who
believed in free software. (Thanks for the toolchain!)
Thanks to geohot for his latest work.
Thanks to Tissy for moral support.
Thanks to iphone-elite.org for support.
Thanks to Viper and Tifel and ortner for being so nice always.
Thanks to iRev for the picture above and to Mel Brooks for
producing and directing such a funny movie.
And thanks to iphoneelite.com for giving me so many laughs too :)
As a side-effect, using this tool will revive many 'dead' basebands.
Just use the unlock option.
boot the phone in recovery mode.
then run: ziphone -u

4.03 R.I.P.

To geohot: i need your help dude...
To make this patch work we gotta downgrade the bootloader or
disable integrity checks.
Or this patch won't work on BL4.6 :(
Come on ! Let's cooperate !
You are cordially invited on #iphone-dev on irc.iphone-elite.org

It's DONE !

2/08/2008 02:05:00 PM - 14 comments
Hats off to George Hotz !
You did it !
Fuck the dev team.
Fuck the money hungry dickheads !
What to say? I am very happy for all the iPhone community !
By the way, I don't know who is faking my nick on geohot blog.
It's not me.
(Probably aCujo or a dickhead like him)

Let me introduce...

2/08/2008 12:59:00 AM - 17 comments

Ok.. I gave them a chance.. but they insist writing bullshits..
(I didn't even understand the chinese thing... the only chinese I meet are restaurant owners!)
So.. for everyone.. let's start with the first part of JerrySim !
Have a nice day :)
And please, don't believe any bullshit they will write..
Notice this: they opened a site today (after a month they tested this)
only to save their shitty faces.
Now what ? Will they say I work with some terrorist?!
Get a real life dev team, you ALL need it !

The truth is out there...

2/07/2008 06:50:00 PM - 23 comments
I'm tired to hear bullshits.
What you are about to read is an "internal" document of the "dev team".
Read it carefully and LEARN how they do things.
And still they call it cooperation... lol!
Then there are their clowns: people like aCujo, sunnyDlite on the first line, then all the other "fans"..
People writing things like:
[17:41] -aCujo- I am impersonating Zibri
[17:41] -aCujo- trying to get him a bad reputation lol
[17:44] -aCujo- you guys should see the bullshit I'm feeding over on tux-irc as Zibri
[17:45] -aCujo- and I'm not capitalizing my 'i's as him.. just to make it more
belivable lol. Zibri is too lazy to capitalize his 'I's
Now.. ok.. enough with this childs.
Here you have the document.
It's dated a month ago.
Now, forget all this bullshits and try to have some fun in real life!

Cat & Mouse

2/07/2008 01:21:00 PM - 22 comments

Yes, Apple and iPhone hackers are like them.
I've never seen Jerry asking for donations or delaying
an "exploit" because it is supposedly not ready.
The only way to be a step ahead is to openly cooperate.
So, if you think you can do something, come on IRC
on #iphone and #iphone-dev on server
And please, STOP asking for unlocks and start learning
everything you can about the iPhone.
Oh and by the way, GRAY succeeded in downgrading 4.6 BL a MONTH AGO.
They named the exploit Jerry but nobody saw the cheese :)
Sorry to say this, but in this cat & mouse game, the CAT is going to win
in the long distance. Why? Because only a global effort could eventually do something.
If i really had to choose a "team" I would choose Tom's.
At least they are professionals who worked hard and fast
and created a product we all love.
And they were coherent enough to ask for money and not for donations :)

Here's to the crazy ones...

2/05/2008 01:10:00 AM - 49 comments

This is Version 1.3 Of anySIM.
This version unlocks baseband 4.03_13_g
It's only for bootblock 3.9 don't use on 4.6
To use it, upgrade the baseband then
put the iPhone in airplane mode and run it !
It works also in JB 113 OS...

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Some words about iPhone-Elite Team:
Once upon a time, me, viper, tifel and ortner decided to create this community.
Our task: gather iphone skilled people to improve our little devices.
Then many other people offered to help.
And many skilled people (and curious people too) joined our channels and forums.
People like: bgm, Fred_, chris, Turbo were the first to join.
Then other offered services like irc bots (billyboy) irc servers (acujo) and other commodities.
Then the problems started: people like acujo an billyboy started playing gods on irc channels.
We all tolerated all that... but the line now has been crossed.
So we start again from scratch.
Hoping to find better people and to create a nice community.
The reference site is http://www.iphone-elite.org/
Please note: .COM is a FAKE. The real IPHONE-ELITE site is the one above.
IRC channel #iphone-dev on irc.iphone-elite.org
No drama, more fun, please. :)

Good news...

2/03/2008 03:10:00 AM - 33 comments

Good news for the small group of masochists who are reading this lousy blog !
As you could have imagined from the previous posts (from the key retrieval I mean) we have total control of the iPhone.
Now it's the turn of the baseband.
Many people are working really hard on this.
Keep you phones ready :)

I'm here :)
