This is not a war and not even a game.
I originally developed ZiPhone for my own use.
Then people asked me to release it and I did.
I bought my first iPhone in Semptember 2007.
I released ZiPhone in February 2008.
I know you people are crazy about the iPhone
but believe me, I am not.
I think the 3g iPhone is not worth even buying
for people who already have the
first generation iPhone.
GPS ? I have a TomTom Go device.
3G data ? I have a 7.2 Mb/s card
in my laptop.
Apps ?
I have my iPhone.
Everything else ?
I have my life !
IF and WHEN there will be a new
ZiPhone you will be informed.
Stop asking, hating, begging.
By the way,
maybe you don't know the difference,
but ZiPhone was a real hack.
Software upgrades or custom firmwares
are a totally different thing.
A nice proof of concept, a nice work, but
that's not hacking..
But if that will ever be released
and that suits your needs,
use it. You'll be (hopefully) happy.

Hi.. zibri how are you? im jhon few days ago i meen 2008/07/11 update my itunes and iphone but now i can't use lock my phone i can't reboot my phone. I need some help guys... I hooked up my iPhone to ZiPhone 3.0 and plugged into the USB port and selected the option "One Click Actions" and the progress log states: Checking ZiPhone integrity i386... Searching for iPhone....
But it never finds my phone after being hooked up for 20+ minutes.. I even rebooted my MacPro and loaded the software back up and it still doesn't recognize the phone being there. Any help would be appreciated!!!

well I really think that what you do is great and that whoever is hating you is a useless freak who thinks everyone should be serving him(they're normally really rich and very regardless but dont let them hurt you,and if we were to hate anyone it would be apple cause of locking the phone and forcing the in store activation. all this excitement about the iphone 3g will were off soon so keep up the good work and remember what you do is a great thing and I really wanted to thank you for releasing the software.I unlocked at first and also jailbroak my phone but the found out tat I hate installer and all its apps so I restored and never jailbroak again. you probably know its all about money cause I know a guy who is asking for $50 to unlock the phone with your free app ! I'm trying to stop them by telling all their costumers about your blog and all of them have tanked me a lot for telling them but he says he'll take me to court so I just stopped.
and I live in a country without the iphone (IRAN) and these idiots have been brining the phone and selling it for $850 plus another $50 for unlocking which equals a $900 and if your iphone crashes and needs a restore they take $100 and at the first days of the iphone they were selling it for $1000 and they sold a lot and even now that the 3g has com they're selling the old unlocked ones for $800 and the new locked one for $1600! and i'm currently in the UK and plan on buying a few and taking back and selling for $400 to stop there cheating. I hope youll support my work by acceptig it.

Unfortunately I made the mistake and updated to 2.0 -- and I was just wondering if you had a program to downgrade. I searched some other places, but I really don't trust their methods, and I originally used ZiPhone to unlock it.

You really need to stop defending yourself. There will always be haters. Always. I personally give you credit for whatever you've done. I recommend your website and your jailbreak to everyone I know. It has worked well for me and others I know. I bought the 3G last week and will sell the 1st Gen (8G) to a friend for $100 bucks. I saved up more than I needed for the new one. When or if you jailbreak the 3G I will download it and take a leap of faith and use your software at my own risk. I will donate. Just ignore the hate and do you!! I haven't upgraded to the 3G yet, but have installed the 2.0 firmware on my original iPhone. Most of us are willing to wait patiently (with great anticipation and excitement) for your next release of Ziphone, which will make it possible to run BOTH types of Apps. Hang in their, buddy! titu: uninstall mobile software frrom itunes and install a older version from itunes, enter DFU holding home buton you will see black screen, then erase band reinstall 1.1.3. that will fix it since itunes 7 comes with a new version of usb(iphone).

Zibri, Great work on 1.1.4, Developer my self i know what its like burning the candle on both end while still trying to have some form of social life.
I was thinking you could buy yourself some massive breathing space if you carved off the unlocking and activation tool into a separate beta app whiles working on the best solution for jailbreaking 1.2.0.
Personally i cant wait for the next full release, but I could live without installer.app for a while as the main reason i bought the iphone was to develop apps for the appstore which i cant do at the moment properly until i get my iphone upgraded n unlocked. Plus the lack of exchange support on 1.1.4 really drives me up the wall.

But Ive heard about a new cellular device called the andriod smartphones soon to be released later this summer or at least the ones i seen though HTC and Ive seen people on our blogs even saying the andriod smartphones are the new direction of the future and not the iPhone and I just what to know what your personal opinion is on these new smartphones. I, like others with iPhone (2G) either couldn't wait to get the newer iPhone, or wanted the software update. Phuk dat! I just spent $500 on my 16gb iphone, so, why run out and get another one, just to be like all the other Dicks and Janes who have to have the latest!!! hehehe When i heard about the new firmware 2.0 i was like, "...Gotta have it... GOTTA HAVE IT!!!" But i didn't do a damn thing until i went to your website and read what you said... In fact, all i looked for was your suggestion... Funny, but i didn't even have to scroll down to see that you said, DO NOT UPDATE! My iPhone is totally "Pimped" Unlocked and Jailbroken and i'm so happy with it the way it is...! You say there's no reason for anyone to upgrade to an iPhone 3G, and then you go on to list a bunch of things YOU have, like the 7 mb/s card for your laptop, you tomtom, etc. Does anyone else see this glaring gap in logic?
Well, what about people without an original iPhone, people in countries that didn't get it? What about people who don't have a card and data plan for their laptop, or a whole separate GPS device?

Hey, keep up the great work, but could you please stop putting auto play music on your site, I know its cool and all, but it is 2008, not 1998 when background music and spinning gif's were cool and everyone had it on their sites. But really it interferes with blind who use screen reader.

Today, Dev Team has released the tool to unlock the previous series of the iphone. you can jailbreak and activate your iphone 3G, that aldo includes the installer feature, BUTTT still cannot unlock the iphone 3G. how long more do we have to wait???
I guess this discussion has already finished but somehow I need to share my humble opinion.
Actually I see that there´s some 2.0 firmware with an appstore but this will not make me upgrade to this firmware due to the fact that I installed quite many apps, which simply do not exist on 2.0, and the appstore only does not justify any upgrade at all. O.K. I´m using an iPod touch and thus this is said easily. I hope that Zibri will not totally collapse and give in. He´s doing and did a great job. It is obviously that the Ziphone-Hack took some time to be noob-safe. People should be patient and give him some time to rest and to go on - if he wants to. No matter who will hack 2.0 completly will take time. Zibri already stated that the Iphone appeared in 2007. The hack was completed 2008. Now why can´t people wait for a 2.0 hack?...Well...I have my ipod touch with 1.1.4 and I can only hope that the community will continue. If not I will only upgrade if the appstore serves the apps I need or want.
So Zibri..please dont give up.

BTW, youre not stealing. I think you already commented on the opensource thing well in your newest post. If it was so simple to do your hack there would be thousands of ziphone-like-hacks...and there arent.

Your right 3g iphone is crap, iphone 2.0 also crap, all the same apps that were avaliable with jailbreaking will cost with 2.0, apple didnt do anything real diffrent or good they just wanted to cash in on the awsome apps that the community has provided. so thanks again, and if you dont want to jailbreak 2.0 dont. A jailbroken 1.4 is a thousand times better than 2.0

Zibri, all part of competition. From my reading I gather Geo putting pressure on the arrogant Dev Team to put out what they have since they claimed to be the first to unlock and jailbreak 3G. I was behind him completely cause if you're(Dev Team) going to say it then do it...put it out there. He also put out some info regarding the 3G which was good but you are the genius Zibri so please please please put out a Ziphone for 3G. I love my 3G phone and I did upgrade but it's a great awesome phone and is not complete without your autographed Ziphone program. Come on....surprise US!

I can't afford the $10 charge for the new 2.0 upgrade that supposedly will allow me to access apple approved applications.
My iPod Touch was a *gift*. I got it to replace an outdated palm zire 31. But if I don't have net access, it's a brick. Or nearly.
I jailbroke it just today using your method(ziphone) after much research and debate with myself.
So far I haven't found the exact app I want, but I'm sure there is one (IE: Offline Ebook Reader for docs and txt.)
