I'm sick of this!
This is not a war and not even a game.
I originally developed ZiPhone for my own use.
Then people asked me to release it and I did.
I bought my first iPhone in Semptember 2007.
I released ZiPhone in February 2008.
I know you people are crazy about the iPhone
but believe me, I am not.
I think the 3g iPhone is not worth even buying
for people who already have the
first generation iPhone.
GPS ? I have a TomTom Go device.
3G data ? I have a 7.2 Mb/s card
in my laptop.
Apps ?
I have my iPhone.
Everything else ?
I have my life !
IF and WHEN there will be a new
ZiPhone you will be informed.
Stop asking, hating, begging.
By the way,
maybe you don't know the difference,
but ZiPhone was a real hack.
Software upgrades or custom firmwares
are a totally different thing.
A nice proof of concept, a nice work, but
that's not hacking..
But if that will ever be released
and that suits your needs,
use it. You'll be (hopefully) happy.

I also agree that the 3g version of the iphone is not worth buying the difference between the iphones is minimal and 3g?? why would you want to pay for 3g when i can use my wifi.

Just look at the news in the evening: Usually it's the negative stuff that is spread. Same way here ... I don't see any reason why you - Zibri - should care at all: You had 3.000.000 downloads. If just one out of hundred downloads was used to unlock/jailbreak - hey, that's 30.000 satisfied customers, isn't it? (ok, ok - you could be much happier, if everyone paid ... sad, but that's the way it is).
On the other hand, there's the complaints. Also 30.000? I don't think so. I think it's really, really less than that.
Come on, keep up the work. It's fun to tell people how easy it is to unlock an iphone and how hard (as I imagine) it is to write such software.

Maybe I'm just one in a million. But I am only waiting for the unlock and not for the jailbreak. If the two are independent from each other (I am utterly ignorant in this regard) why not release the unlock for 1st gen iPhones 2.0?

I guess most of the shit is coming your way because the people that sell your software and had guaranteed an update for 2.0, cannot do that now, and are getting shit from the people that purchased it.
Like a lot of people, I paid 14 Euros to a company in the UK to unlock my iPhone, and then found it free here, on your webpage.
I guess my thoughts are that if I was prepared to spend 14 Euros with them, I would rather have spent it with you for all the effort that YOU put into the software.
I wanted the software, and was prepared to pay.
Don't release a new version free, do the work, set up a paypal or similar account, and I will pay YOU for the next version, I have NO problem with that at all.
Make yourself some real money, and feel appreciated at the same time.

first and foremost, I want to say, thank you very much for the ziphone software that lets me just kick back while you work your magic of unlocking and the whole works for the 1st generation iPhone. People are so ungrateful these days and can never appreciate great ingenuity. All the other morons are just jealous that you did something they couldn't or wouldn't as a kind act towards others. You rock and I have to say MAD RESPECT to you!
With that said, I have to say, sadly I ended up getting the iPhone 3G. I wish I had read your blog before I did :( because honestly I would have kept my freedom over the 3G. I know you laid out a step by step process to revert back to 1.1.4 and keep their freedom for those who upgraded firmware to 2.0 on the 1st generation iPhone. I was wondering, what your thoughts would be on trying the same with the iPhone 3G i.e. revert back to 1.1.4 and then the baseband? I don't mean to bug or bother you but, I was just asking your input on my question is all :) I am hardly as knowledgeable as you are and therefore asking you for some input.
Once again you're awesome for all the work you're doing for us and I have to say you are a true hack artist as opposed to the other punks.
I have a lot to say about how stupid and materialistic some people are but won't waste my breath on them. You created a program that if sold could have made you a lot of money but you chose not to. I believe that if you decide to create a crack for the 2.0 you should definitely sell it. You have a brilliant mind and these people seem to have alot of money to give to apple for a phone. T-mobile did not have a descent PDA phone that had real internet capability so my only hope was an unlocked iPhone. Your work made that possible. I have had it for about three months now and everything works fine. I agree with the others, the people doing the harrassing are probably Apple or ATT trolls. Just ignore them.

acording to Zibri, there are a huge number of allowed operators within firmware 2.0, so the MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION is the following:
if I am already user of one of the new allowed operators in 2.0 firmware (for instance, movistar in Spain) and I have an original iPhone... can I just restore to 2.0 with iTunes and then activate the original iPhone with my movistar contract?
Has anybody thought of this?

I'm not really bothered if you release an update for 2.0 as lookin at the Appstore, lot of the apps are not worth gettin, there isn't even MMS or video.
I can't wait for the Samsung i900 aka Omnia to be released but i have a feeling I'll end up gettin the 3g iPhone on O2-UK for £299($600 approx) as I think the price on the i900 will be very high. I just hope Samsung think of the 3g iPhone and have a price around £300 aswell.

You know what, I think you should charge people 1USD per download. This is a very small amount of money compared to the fun we get out of the phone. This will give you the money you need to keep up the development and to keep ZiPhone the best applcation out there because you said it yourself, it's your application. as i see it you made ziphone not for the money or the glory you made it cos it could be done...i will admit after leaving the pda camp to come over to the iphone i do miss sat nav but hey wots a few wrong turns!! ;-) what we have in our phones is something unique..somthing that no device has done before..brought the world a little closer together and bearing in mind its mainly down to you big z allowing the whole world to enjoy the iphone in a simple and easy to use way..for that we are all gratefull..if you choose not to release a ziphone for the 3g then i totally respect your choice as i was seeing red everytime i looked at ebay to see locusts flogging your hard work under their banner..

I don't wish to sound preachy. But by your blog it sounds like you've run out of motivation. I realize that you feel it is unnecessary or pointless to upgrade your iphone or firmware. I won't question this conclusion, however, there are several valid reasons for creating an unlock/jailbreak solution for the new firmware. Firstly, it is unlikely that mainstream developers will continue to develop for the outdated 1.1.4 firmware, but they may opt to create new apps for installer and cydia if they were shown to be compatible with the new 2.0 firmware. Second, I'm not sure if your a strong believer in making claims to greatness, but, if you are the type of person who enjoys being the FIRST to accomplish something, than I suggest finding the motivation to create the first unlock/jailbreak solution for the 3G iphone and for the new 2.0 firmware. As I stated at the beginning of this post, I do not wish to sound preachy or to offend you in any way. This is simply how I view your current situation and my two cents.

Hearing everything you say there, and I'm thankful for the hard work and effort you have put into Ziphone. The problem with simplifying any process is that anyone can do it, and at the end of the day we all love GUI's but they hide the real work that has gone into it.
If Ziphone never existed and the only solution was to type each line of command line manually, only the elite who understood what they were doing would have the privellage of native apps and the other features, the GUI know it alls would have to grovel to someone else to do there dirty work. You came up tops and supplied the goods, ignore the loosers! You have the respect of fellow like minded people, stay true to the cause and enjoy life!!

Are you all that dumb, I used ZiPhone myself, but even I know that Zibri is holding out for DevTeam's hack so he can then make his own, plain and simple, if not he would have furnished you with details of his new hack, the fact he is just sitting there taking in all this sanctimonious crap, and will update probably a week after DevTeam have released.
Plus reports from the DevTeam say that they are working on a Windows version which will be out sometime after the main Mac one, now I know most ZiPhone users are here for a Windows hack...don't bother, it's coming and it isn't Zibri's doing,

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Zibri. I've been singing your and your app's praises since the day I discovered it. I'm an early adopter in my area. I get quizzed heavily about all my new gadgets, especially my iphone which, jailbroken, is one of the greatest devices I've ever owned. I direct anyone interested in getting one to your site and I explain that your app makes cracking the phone open *ridiculously* simple. I could hand my Great Grandmother an iphone and a copy of Ziphone and she'd be installing apps in minutes.
I'm with you on the 3G. If it was my first, I'd snatch it up. But, there just isn't enough there to make me ditch this one yet. In fact, having tasted jailbroken goodness, I honestly don't know if I'd be interested in an iphone without it.
After watching some people who upgraded to Firefox 3 go completely apesh*t on a theme designer, all I could really do was chuckle. I mean, wow... A dude uses his own time to make something for himself, decides to share it with the public, people love it, and then they throw everything but death threats when he doesn't drop everything and churn out an update as fast as he can? Now there's gratitude. Heh.
Here's to hoping a new version does emerge someday, but if you just don't have the time, then we'll just have to live without it.

Don't listen to all the naysayers Zibri, your program is the reason people are able to enjoy their iPhones.
You've got nothing to prove and don't owe anything to anyone. It must have been hard being thrust into the spotlight for your own genius, then immediately ridiculed for not meeting whatever incredulous expectations people had. Celebrity does that, people love you then tear you apart.

First I would like to say, Zibri, Thank you.
Now, lets get onto business. There are a few things that I do not understand. Why all this fuss about the 3G? It's GPS has already been proven to fail, and is not reliable. The 3G service is $10 more a month. (I don't know about you all, but I use wireless 98% of the time) So I have no need for 3G. The new iPhone STILL does not have C/P, MMS, Video, or even it's own on board voice recorder. Most of the things we all said we wanted to improve on the iphone were blatantly ignored. Why go purchase a new 3G, when they didn't even listen to us on the 1st gen? You people all complain about not having this feature, not having that feature, yet.. you go and buy the phone that still doesn't have the damn features you want! All they did (Apple, and AT&T) was give you the same phone, and expect you to pay more. C'mon people. you think they are going to give us what we want if we go and buy the crap they put out? NO! They know there are people who will buy it no matter what. They are screwing all of us and we don't even realize it. I bought the 1st Gen 16GB iPhone a month after it was released. Then a new phone is released only months later?! They are sitting back and laughing at us. Zibri was good enough to release his iPhone hack to the public. What does he have to show for it? A bunch of inconsiderate whiney kids who always take, take, take. I bet you half of the people who downloaded his program didn't as much as say a thank you.

I love what Zibri has done - my iphone was working fine and then I did the most stupid thing and upgraded to 2.0 without meaning to. I was on autopilot and I suppose that's how Apple gets you. As you can tell I'm a novice at this stuff - I just love my iphone. Yes, I know I'm stupid as now I'm reading Zibri's advise and wish I could go back to 1.1.4. - it was working great. Is that even possible? I don't care about 2.0 but now I have to care if I want my iphone to ever work again...thank you Zibri for caring even when you know it's not really worth it. Grazie mille!

There is nothing i can say that has not been said already. I agree with many here, that you have done a great job and you have got many people out of sticky situations. And like one person said charge for your software. I would pay for it and i am sure many others would too.

I'm always curious about jailbreaking the iphone. There does seem to be a lot of talk and "making shapes" throughout the web about the iphone 2.0 firmware being jailbroken since March, but to date there isn't a sign of it apart from photoshopped screenshots and shaky youtube videos.
I get the impression sometimes that groups claim to have done it just to get in the early claim and when someone else does it they can say they did it first, even without proof. It will be interesting to see who actually produces the jailbreak and when.......
Seriously, leave the fuckin guy alone. I'm right there with ya Zibri no IPhone purchase for me until a 32GB comes out!
See that the firmware 2.0 was unlocked and working fine on the ipod touch, in Zibris previous post, we can tell that we too have a chance to get our firmwares unlocked. Its just a matter of fact of zibri releasing it or not.
Btw, not to be rude or anything, i dont get it and dont really understand why you are complaining about haters, as the post they make goes to you first and should be approved by you in order to be on the blog. If you are saying that haters are really spamming your blog, i guess its you whos making them to? :S From now on you should read all the post if you have time, and then approve the most important ones. Again, not pressuring you or anything, just saying that if you do have to read them. Or just hire somebody to do this man, you got lotsa money on you ;)
It's easy to say, "ignore the haters", but it's harder to do it.
I gotta say, you've done such an amazing job. You get a ton of people telling you that, but I couldn't say ANYTHING in good conscience without saying that.
Good luck, Z. If I was in your position, and it wasn't fun anymore, wasn't getting fulfillment out it (all of us being happy as heck, donations or whatever aside), then I'd seriously consider moving on to something else. Don't want you to do that. But 'struth.

you're the man. don't let anyone get in your way of what you want to do. i've used your software on my phone and have donated. if there is a new ziphone and if you release it, awesome. if you don't, awesome! you've helped many people when you only were helping yourself. who cares what anyone else says, screw 'em! do what you want, when you want and if you want.

Theories Physics just help me understand what is all about this little world of ours but I most say that if you change the way of seen life a little bit in a direction not so obvious then you will really understand that we are the most insignificant key that can make this little word of ours a better place.

There should be no complauints at all! Good phone, designed by a profit- making entity to - surprise - make a profit. Don't buy it if you have a problem. Good program by Zibri: THE easiest for unlocking.
I don't need a G# iPhone, but I _want_ the v.2 software, so I >hope< Z issues an upgrade. "Now" is when I want it, but adults know sometimes you have to wait for quality. Those who don't know that - will still have to wait!
No complaints allowed! The phone is good - the best. If you don't like the cost or restrictions, don't buy! Z's prog is superb: THE best for unlocking, even if not the "1st." The G3 iPhone is not needed, but the V,2 iPhone software is >wanted< (for its goodies). Adults can wait til Z gets finished - everybody else will have to wait too!

Hey guys! Got a question. I unlocked, activated, and jailbroke a 1.1.4 iPhone. I then sold the phone to some one who is trying to use Rogers but she tells me that it sys no service when she puts her SIM card in. Here's my question: If she uses the advanced menu in ziphone and only checks the box unlock the phone can it do any harm to the phone? I'd really appreciate the help! Thank you.
Hey guys I have one problem. I was googleling but so far I couldnt find the answer. Problem is that I succesfully restored iPhone to 1.1.4 and unlocked with ZiPhone, everything works except there is missing a Instaler icon.
What could it be problem here?

You tell the truth about new Hacks out there for 2.0. It doesn't work good. I have a leak in the american side. it works but very unstable and not at all safe. User of 3GI phone stay away. unless you have lots of money to buy new phone. I seen it with my own eyes a sample!
Clue Guys when purchasing new Iphone3G stores are using 7.6 itune to activate it not 7.7. So whats Apple up to!
-My wireless store does not even have 2.0 software update. What up with that!
-My 3g updated to 2.0 when i plugged it to my Mac. when got home

RIght now I sold my soul to Apple and America Movil (lol) to have an iPhone 3G, but once I had an EDGE iPhone, and thanks to you Zibri I enjoyed it in every version, from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4, I just want to thank you for that.

Relax. Work again if and when you want too. Your 15 minutes of fame are over now. Go work on something that pays in money. The iPhone will get handled just fine in a little bit of time.
