I already have 2.6b installed, should I try this or... Any huge difference? New to this... ^^
Any way to keep this version from installing the base apps? I use Cydia (a newer unix subsystem) and would prefer that the old BSD subsystem not get installed at all. If you install Cydia over the old one, upgrades for the old one still show up in Installer, but you can't actually install them without hosing your OS.
I like the plugin concept, but I will have to go back to 2.5 if there's no way to disable the application install.

I'm hoping to use the "no-wifi" fix, as I have two phones suffering from that illness.
However, when I load the OSX version, select advanced tab, and "fix no-wifi issue"... clicking "start advanced process gives me an error:
"You must pick at least one action parameter from the checkboxes on the left."
Any suggestions?

This may sound stupid, but... is there any way to not have ZiPhone automatically install BSD Subsystem? I would prefer to not have it on my iPod at all when (and if) I have to re-jailbreak it.

I still can't use the wifi on my iPhone, though..Anytime I try to access any website, Safari says it can't find the server....although the wifi settings are on and the network IS connected and working. I've tried accessing that network from a friend's iTouch and it was successful from his device, but not from mine.
Any clue?

Someone asked how to uninstall things preinstalled..
Here is an example:

This EXAMPLE will remove INSTALLER.
(to have it back, just remove blucher.zip then jailbreak again)

You can't put apps STRAIGHT away in Blucher.zip...
You have to zip them RELATIVE to the iphone root ( / )

Here we are.
Well, the plugin system is as simple as powerful as you could imagine.
All you have to do is to put whatever you want to transfer to the iPhone in a zip file !
The zip file will be extracted to / (the iPhone root) so if you want for example add an application,
all you have to do is to create a zip file relative to / so it will contain:
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/YOURAPP
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/foo
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/bar
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/etc
Remember to zip the file on a unix system (even the iphone, a mac, linux, cygwin under windows, etc)
And remeber to set file permissions and ownership before zipping with the command:
zip -yr9 Blucher.zip /Applications/YOURAPP.APP
Then put Blucher.zip in the main directory where ziphone.exe,zibri.dat,Inga.dat,dfu.dat are.
That file will be automatically installed during all jailbreak operations.
If you just want to install that file without jailbreaking again, just run ziphone -P
For the plugin system to work you have to jailbreak at least ONCE using ZiPhone 3.0.
And what if you need to run a shell script after installation or INSTEAD of installation?!
It's very simple:
Just add to Blucher.zip /tmp/Blucher.sh containing your script.
So your zip file structure will be:
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/YOURAPP
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/foo
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/bar
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/etc
/tmp/Blucher.sh
Now it's just a matter of fantasy.
You could use the plugin system even to backup and restore part or ALL the filesystem.
You could use it even just to display and image or ring a bell or do any nasty things..
That's why if you use the plugin system a big red WARNING will appear on your iPhone during installation.
ZiPhone will not be responsible for any 3rd party PLUGINS but I enourage it's use.
If you think your app or your plugin is so good it should be OFFICIALLY put in the SUPPORTED ziphone plugins, drop

2 weeks ago, i download an older version of your hack and tried it on my ipod touch, it didnt work. so i spent about 4 hours manually hacking it with loads of other peoples help. Recently it crashed and i had to do a restore, then i looked on your blog and a new version had been releasd. I thought i would give it a go. after download, i had a jailbroken 16gb ipod touch within 2 mins. Thank You so Much !!

I noticed you were planning on possibly putting more forced installs in future versions and I really, really don't need ZiPhone telling me what I need installed. I really do like the concept of plugins, but only the plugins I want. I don't want to have to spend time figuring out how the hell to disable what I don't want in the jailbreak.
This has been the best jailbreak out there until now. If you're going to start forcing unwanted applications down our throats, I'm gonna have to start reconsidering that position.
On the MAC version of 3.0, when you go into the help window, on the bottom left corner it reads version 2.6b

Please Zibri help us out with a simple BACKUP solution by dumping the system rdisk0S1 to PC.
I'm sure it will only take you a couple of minutes to add this to an already spectacular program!!
One can later focus on improving on this by eliminating things that just waste space but this would be simple and fine for now.

"FIX NO WIFI/BT" doesn't work for me. I looked up in many forums and people have the same result. These're the first comments.
In my case, I've just discovered that I have this problem (common in lot of iPhones): "invalid calibration data in device tree".
I hope you find a real solution.

something needs fixing I used this on my iPod Touch (16GB) and it causes main script execution and package download failed when trying to reinstall bsd and installer and SSH does NOT work
First of ALL:
To whoever has problems:
Just do a full restore to 1.1.4 then use ziphone 3.0.
To whoever wants the OLD options: just use the previous version.
About BSD subsystem: that is needed by Installer and MANY apps.
For any different usage, there is the plugin system.
About WIFI: ZIPHONE can't REPAIR HARDWARE PROBLEMS, Broken basebands, fucked seczones, so please STOP BUGGING.
To anyone else:
enjoy.
The program has been tested on at least 20 iphones/ipods and gives NO PROBLEMS.
To use the plugin system you have FIRST to jailbreak at least ONCE using 3.0.
If you are dumb enough not to have done that, then put the phone in recovery mode MANUALLY the use ziphone to boot it in NORMAL MODE, then you can start again if you wish.
Please don't just press buttons without KNOWING what you are doing.
You won't get help in that way nor your comments will be posted.

Jailbreak & Installer is the only part of this I want. I am an AT&T customer and have no need for activate or unlock. I never use them at all. You seem to be ignoring the central point of my complaint. You have taken it upon yourself to force certain things on us. I'll restate my issue once more. There is currently an alternative to BSD Subsystem that some of us prefer to use. By forcing BSD Subsystem on us, you are limiting the ways in which we can install the alternative and forcing us to deal with quirks and peculiarities that we would not have to deal with if you didn't feel the need to force your way on others. Absent of a way to uninstall BSD Subsystem (which simply does not exist), I'll just have to keep version 2.6 and 1.1.4 of the firmware. I don't want plugin capabilities bad enough to deal with this.
Just downloaded it. and it won't install. It immediately stops at the unzip. I have .Net 2.0 installed.

Great work work! But someone tell me can I fix my brothers iPhone ( Unlocked 1.0.2 ). By using the Refurbish option and then finally restore it to 1.1.4!

Why have you made everyone who uses this software to have the same MAC address. If it's a mistake, i advice to change it quick. But as it is Zibri in ASSCI , i doubt it was a mistake.
I think your application is the best out there but this could cause serious issues in the future for these people.

Someone asked the question earlier but I didn't see a response to it. If some of us on ver. 2.6 want to upgrade to 3.0 (My reason being yahoo mail broke on my iPhone right after jailbreaking it, I'm an AT&T customer so I only used the Jailbreak Only method) and when I restored back to 1.1.4 yahoo mail was working again. Another post said that ziphone 3.0 fixes this problem.
So my question is, should we restore using ziphone restore, or should we use iTunes to restore to 1.1.4 and then jailbreak it afterwards?
By the way...on my old iPhone O.T.B. 1.1.2 ziphone worked perfectly and everything was functional including yahoo mail. After swapping it out with a new iPhone from Apple this weekend because of dead pixels..the 1.1.3 O.T.B. upgrade to 1.1.4 then jailbroken causes yahoo mail to no longer function!

I just tried to jailbreak my iTouch with Ziphone. It rebooted and started running a script then nothing..... nothing at all, I get the message
BDS root: md0, major 2, minor 0
this just keeps scrolling. Left it for 15mins then killed it, rebooted but all I get is the script and the same scrolling message.iTunes cant see ipod for me to attempt to restore it.
Can anybody help me with a solution to restore my pod.

basically when i update to v1.1.4 and jailbreak with v3 it works fine and i get the ziphone blog icon and the installer icon on the desktop. However i do not get the mail, notes, weather, maps and the other application icons that were included in the najuary update. any help on that ?

I just made a full zip of my iphone with "/zip -yr9 /private/var/Blucher.zip /"
but after a restore I got the "entering recovery mode" but nothing append. I know this was a little too easy but I'm sure that it could work without the specials folders maybe. My goal is to get an image of a fresh iphone so I can apply it for a second one for example.

All the things that you have in your ziphone 3 should be at users choice not yours, some people may not want to install BSD subsystem, SSH, or have plugins installed to the phone.
These option should be at users choice not yours.

men in my ipod touch l restored all and I open itune, I don't touch anything, later open ziphone 3.0 and star the jailbreak, but the ziphone don't find my ipod touch and the ipod have the fireworks 1.1.4

I restored my iPhone before running the new Ziphone on OSX.
Ran Ziphone and it worked its magic, except no Installer.app
Restored twice, ran ZiPhones Unlock, Jailbreak & Activate as well as just running Jailbreak.. Still no Installer.app

What about a smarter approach to the no-wifi fix? Maybe random MAC address generation (instead of ZIBRI in ASCII).
This fix is mostly oriented towards newbies (because people who knows about the MAC issue might have tried it already), and newbies might use the option by mistake and cause networks problems (which would be almost impossible for a newbie to detect!). Think about the random thing, it´s much safer from a technical point of view, don´t you agree?
Also, I suggest you to create a panel where people can input all pertinent information about their problems with ziphone. By using that date, it would be very easy to detect what´s causing no-wifi and other issues.

Hi! Ive unlocked a otb 1.1.4 with ziphone 2.6b. Everything seems to work, utube, wifi, no nvram issues (what is that anyway?). Is there any reason for me to update to ziphone 3.0
