Hello there !
Here you have the latest ZiPhone version !
This version has many new features !
Don't forget to read the README.txt and the
PLUGIN_HOWTO.txt !!
As usual it is better to use ziphone on a
restored iPhone, but you can also just
run ziphone -j to add the plugin support.
Now it's up to you all and your fantasy!
Because the plugin system can just do
EVERYTHING you can imagine.
If you think your app or your system mod
should be used by everyone, contact me
and I could include it as a default
in the next release.

I wish there was a way to backup all apps and stuff so that I could try out new stuff and then have an easy restore with all apps included. Ziphone should add a backup function someday.

I already have 2.6b installed, should I try this or... Any huge difference? New to this... ^^
Any way to keep this version from installing the base apps? I use Cydia (a newer unix subsystem) and would prefer that the old BSD subsystem not get installed at all. If you install Cydia over the old one, upgrades for the old one still show up in Installer, but you can't actually install them without hosing your OS.
I like the plugin concept, but I will have to go back to 2.5 if there's no way to disable the application install.

I'm hoping to use the "no-wifi" fix, as I have two phones suffering from that illness.
However, when I load the OSX version, select advanced tab, and "fix no-wifi issue"... clicking "start advanced process gives me an error:
"You must pick at least one action parameter from the checkboxes on the left."
Any suggestions?

This may sound stupid, but... is there any way to not have ZiPhone automatically install BSD Subsystem? I would prefer to not have it on my iPod at all when (and if) I have to re-jailbreak it.

I still can't use the wifi on my iPhone, though..Anytime I try to access any website, Safari says it can't find the server....although the wifi settings are on and the network IS connected and working. I've tried accessing that network from a friend's iTouch and it was successful from his device, but not from mine.

Someone asked how to uninstall things preinstalled..
Here is an example:

You can't put apps STRAIGHT away in Blucher.zip...
You have to zip them RELATIVE to the iphone root ( / )
The missing (for now in osx archive) plugin HOWTO:

Here we are.
Well, the plugin system is as simple as powerful as you could imagine.
All you have to do is to put whatever you want to transfer to the iPhone in a zip file !
The zip file will be extracted to / (the iPhone root) so if you want for example add an application,
all you have to do is to create a zip file relative to / so it will contain:
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/YOURAPP
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/foo
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/bar
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/etc
Remember to zip the file on a unix system (even the iphone, a mac, linux, cygwin under windows, etc)
And remeber to set file permissions and ownership before zipping with the command:
zip -yr9 Blucher.zip /Applications/YOURAPP.APP
Then put Blucher.zip in the main directory where ziphone.exe,zibri.dat,Inga.dat,dfu.dat are.
That file will be automatically installed during all jailbreak operations.
If you just want to install that file without jailbreaking again, just run ziphone -P
For the plugin system to work you have to jailbreak at least ONCE using ZiPhone 3.0.
And what if you need to run a shell script after installation or INSTEAD of installation?!
It's very simple:
Just add to Blucher.zip /tmp/Blucher.sh containing your script.
So your zip file structure will be:
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/YOURAPP
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/foo
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/bar
/Applications/YOURAPP.APP/etc
/tmp/Blucher.sh
Now it's just a matter of fantasy.
You could use the plugin system even to backup and restore part or ALL the filesystem.
You could use it even just to display and image or ring a bell or do any nasty things..
That's why if you use the plugin system a big red WARNING will appear on your iPhone during installation.
ZiPhone will not be responsible for any 3rd party PLUGINS but I enourage it's use.
If you think your app or your plugin is so good it should be OFFICIALLY put in the SUPPORTED ziphone plugins, drop

2 weeks ago, i download an older version of your hack and tried it on my ipod touch, it didnt work. so i spent about 4 hours manually hacking it with loads of other peoples help. Recently it crashed and i had to do a restore, then i looked on your blog and a new version had been releasd. I thought i would give it a go. after download, i had a jailbroken 16gb ipod touch within 2 mins. Thank You so Much !!

I noticed you were planning on possibly putting more forced installs in future versions and I really, really don't need ZiPhone telling me what I need installed. I really do like the concept of plugins, but only the plugins I want. I don't want to have to spend time figuring out how the hell to disable what I don't want in the jailbreak.
This has been the best jailbreak out there until now. If you're going to start forcing unwanted applications down our throats, I'm gonna have to start reconsidering that position.
On the MAC version of 3.0, when you go into the help window, on the bottom left corner it reads version 2.6b

Please Zibri help us out with a simple BACKUP solution by dumping the system rdisk0S1 to PC.
I'm sure it will only take you a couple of minutes to add this to an already spectacular program!!
One can later focus on improving on this by eliminating things that just waste space but this would be simple and fine for now.

"FIX NO WIFI/BT" doesn't work for me. I looked up in many forums and people have the same result. These're the first comments.
In my case, I've just discovered that I have this problem (common in lot of iPhones): "invalid calibration data in device tree".
I hope you find a real solution.

something needs fixing I used this on my iPod Touch (16GB) and it causes main script execution and package download failed when trying to reinstall bsd and installer and SSH does NOT work
First of ALL:
To whoever has problems:
Just do a full restore to 1.1.4 then use ziphone 3.0.
To whoever wants the OLD options: just use the previous version.
About BSD subsystem: that is needed by Installer and MANY apps.
For any different usage, there is the plugin system.
About WIFI: ZIPHONE can't REPAIR HARDWARE PROBLEMS, Broken basebands, fucked seczones, so please STOP BUGGING.
To anyone else:
enjoy.
The program has been tested on at least 20 iphones/ipods and gives NO PROBLEMS.
To use the plugin system you have FIRST to jailbreak at least ONCE using 3.0.
If you are dumb enough not to have done that, then put the phone in recovery mode MANUALLY the use ziphone to boot it in NORMAL MODE, then you can start again if you wish.
Please don't just press buttons without KNOWING what you are doing.
You won't get help in that way nor your comments will be posted.

Jailbreak & Installer is the only part of this I want. I am an AT&T customer and have no need for activate or unlock. I never use them at all. You seem to be ignoring the central point of my complaint. You have taken it upon yourself to force certain things on us. I'll restate my issue once more. There is currently an alternative to BSD Subsystem that some of us prefer to use. By forcing BSD Subsystem on us, you are limiting the ways in which we can install the alternative and forcing us to deal with quirks and peculiarities that we would not have to deal with if you didn't feel the need to force your way on others. Absent of a way to uninstall BSD Subsystem (which simply does not exist), I'll just have to keep version 2.6 and 1.1.4 of the firmware. I don't want plugin capabilities bad enough to deal with this.
Just downloaded it. and it won't install. It immediately stops at the unzip. I have .Net 2.0 installed.

Why have you made everyone who uses this software to have the same MAC address. If it's a mistake, i advice to change it quick. But as it is Zibri in ASSCI , i doubt it was a mistake.
I think your application is the best out there but this could cause serious issues in the future for these people.

Someone asked the question earlier but I didn't see a response to it. If some of us on ver. 2.6 want to upgrade to 3.0 (My reason being yahoo mail broke on my iPhone right after jailbreaking it, I'm an AT&T customer so I only used the Jailbreak Only method) and when I restored back to 1.1.4 yahoo mail was working again. Another post said that ziphone 3.0 fixes this problem.
So my question is, should we restore using ziphone restore, or should we use iTunes to restore to 1.1.4 and then jailbreak it afterwards?
By the way...on my old iPhone O.T.B. 1.1.2 ziphone worked perfectly and everything was functional including yahoo mail. After swapping it out with a new iPhone from Apple this weekend because of dead pixels..the 1.1.3 O.T.B. upgrade to 1.1.4 then jailbroken causes yahoo mail to no longer function!

I just tried to jailbreak my iTouch with Ziphone. It rebooted and started running a script then nothing..... nothing at all, I get the message
BDS root: md0, major 2, minor 0
this just keeps scrolling. Left it for 15mins then killed it, rebooted but all I get is the script and the same scrolling message.iTunes cant see ipod for me to attempt to restore it.
Can anybody help me with a solution to restore my pod.

basically when i update to v1.1.4 and jailbreak with v3 it works fine and i get the ziphone blog icon and the installer icon on the desktop. However i do not get the mail, notes, weather, maps and the other application icons that were included in the najuary update. any help on that ?

I just made a full zip of my iphone with "/zip -yr9 /private/var/Blucher.zip /"
but after a restore I got the "entering recovery mode" but nothing append. I know this was a little too easy but I'm sure that it could work without the specials folders maybe. My goal is to get an image of a fresh iphone so I can apply it for a second one for example.

All the things that you have in your ziphone 3 should be at users choice not yours, some people may not want to install BSD subsystem, SSH, or have plugins installed to the phone.
These option should be at users choice not yours.

men in my ipod touch l restored all and I open itune, I don't touch anything, later open ziphone 3.0 and star the jailbreak, but the ziphone don't find my ipod touch and the ipod have the fireworks 1.1.4

Ran Ziphone and it worked its magic, except no Installer.app
Restored twice, ran ZiPhones Unlock, Jailbreak & Activate as well as just running Jailbreak.. Still no Installer.app

What about a smarter approach to the no-wifi fix? Maybe random MAC address generation (instead of ZIBRI in ASCII).
This fix is mostly oriented towards newbies (because people who knows about the MAC issue might have tried it already), and newbies might use the option by mistake and cause networks problems (which would be almost impossible for a newbie to detect!). Think about the random thing, it´s much safer from a technical point of view, don´t you agree?
Also, I suggest you to create a panel where people can input all pertinent information about their problems with ziphone. By using that date, it would be very easy to detect what´s causing no-wifi and other issues.

Hi and Thanks! I have been using an Out of the Box 1.1.4 iPhone whish was jailbreaked with 2.5C (i think) version.
When I installed several packages at once, my iPhone entered in a sate where only logo appeared.
After so much work with errors in iTunes, i downloaded the 1.1.4 firmware (ziphone reference), used first method to enter DFU mode, run (shift) + RESTORE in iTunes, restored the iPhone and run ziphone 3.0.
Happy user now... after 5 hours trying to RESTORE (without using shift + Restore).

The Mac version seems to have the buttons under the wrong headings. The windows version lists "Jailbreak" under "Iphone/Ipod Touch", BUT mac version lists "Jailbreak/Activate" under "Iphone/Ipod Touch."
I had the BSD loop error on my Mac 32GB iPod Touch until I used the "Jailbreak" ONLY function listed under "iPhone".
Hope this will be useful.

I tried to installed it last night and it coz bit of a problem. I Installed it from f/w 1.1.4 and it would not work. The solution is, I have to install Ziphone 2.6b first and installed the Ziphone 3. Now it is working great. I'm just let you know in case someone have similar probs.

(To the moderators: my english is far to be perfect, so feel free to correct it to make this post as clearly as possible!)
READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE START!
How to:
- Unplug the iPod
- Keep pressed power e home buttons until it restart.
- As soon the Apple appears, release and keep pressed again the home button. Now release the power button (otherwise iPod will switvh off). You must be in this situation: apple logo on the screen and home button keep pressed
- After few seconds iTunes logo appears; plug the iPod to the usb and start the recovery.
(It's strongly recommendend that you choose the "Trheat as a new iPod" option; you'll loose all your files because of the reset)
If iTunes have matching problems:
- Unplug the iPod and switch it off
- Restart computer
- Plug the iPod
iTunes should be now mount the iPod.
You can now start recovery. :)
GOOD LUCK!
New to blogging. tried upgrading to 3.0, as I did, noticed that the old icons were there while not registering in the uninstall. Went on to refurbish and then Restore (iTunes). It resulted in bricking my phone. I am afraid this phone is now dead. Can anyone tell me otherwise? Thanks,

I unlcoked my iphone using ziphone. And now when i connect it to itunes, itunes does not detect the iphone. A small window pops up asking, "select a program to launch for this action" - "Microsoft office document scanning / Microsoft office word / microsoft scanner and camera wizard / paperport."
Any idea how the itunes can detect the iphone so tht i can upload
music and videos?

It will allow you to restore and try the unlock again. The second time I tried the unlock, it worked perfectly :)

For hose getting the "BDS root: md0, major 2, minor 0" loop, I had the same error, an it was my mistake I should say. What I would suggest is do a manual recovery (push 2 buttons simultaneously) and let itunes extract and load the system files after that once your ipod or iphone restarts do not define a new identity using your itunes just ignore the itunes screen and run ziphone. You can use itunes after ziphone does the magic. hope it helps.

Well, I'm using the iPhone in France and getting some weird results while using ziphone. First, as many have said, I don't find the readme.txt neither the how-to files in the disk image (I'm using mac). Then, when I access installer through my wi-fi network, it never gets to download anything. Besides, google searches through edge network never complete, neither many other pages can get accessed. Could anybody help on that? thanks!
Restored to 1.1.4 (from 1.1.2) and ZiPhone 3.0 then. My child was sweet and kicking. Really elegant way how to make my iP working, comparing to the old way using TurboSIM.
Changing the root password over SSH brought the SpringBoard reloading over and over again. Nothing, but the restore helped. Ziphone 3.0 then again, but when changing root password, the same situ again. Any suggestion? THX, P.

I noticed you removed the broken link. Great work mate, your solution is fantastic.
Anyway, I know you've mentioned that you would not release a solution for the 2.0 firmware until it was final, but the dev guys have released their version, and although it is a pain in the ass to use. (have to flash the phone twice not to mention having to unzip, blah blah. If you release a version that unlocks 2.0, you officially made the pwnage tool redundant a few days after it's release. No one will use their tool if your tool is so much faster and easier. Also, if people get used to another tool, they might get just stop using ziphone.
Ps: don't publish this (unless you want to), just wanted to share a few thoughts.

Hi all, i am on 1.1.4 right now and the unlock works great for the phone functions. the only problem is when i activate mail and edge ... it will work for a few minutes and then stop working (no service).

I used Ziphone to jailbreak,unlock and activate my 1.1.3 OTB phone and my it works great (thank you very much). However, this was before I really knew about boat loader versions and I'm curios now as what to expect in the future if we can't recover back to 4.6. Thanks for all your help.
Zibri, my 8Gb touch is having zero connection to youtube, safari. this occours with full wi-fi but the installer always works great. it will not let me restore original settings, it errors out, then automatically ejects my ipod from i tunes.... HELP!!!!

First of all Zibri, I'd like to thank you for your hardwork on ZiPhone. It's been really useful to a lot of people who want to easily jailbreak / unlock their iPhone with ease. Unfortunately, I'm one of many users experiencing problems with YouTube and was excited upon finding out that ZiPhone 3.0 didn't need any YouTube fixes. So, I restored my iPhone and downloaded and ran ZiPhone 3.0. Under advanced features, I downgraded the bootloader of my iPhone and then unlocked and activated it. I did this because I didn't want to jailbreak my iPhone and since there wasn't a one-click button that doesn't involve jailbreaking (except for prepare for upgrade of course). After this however, I was still experiencing problems with YouTube saying I needed first to connect to iTunes with an internet connection to get it to work. Doing this however didn't fix the problem so I just restored my iPhone again and used the 'Do it all' function. This ended my YouTube problems but it came with a cost: it jailbreaked my iPhone, something I didn't want to happen. Therefore, I'd really appreciate it if the next version of ZiPhone fixes YouTube problems when unlocking and not jailbreaking an iPhone. It would also be handy if you came up with a new button that downgrades the bootloader, unlocks and activates the iPhone all at the same time without jailbreaking it for an easy one-click unlock. Thank you once more!

I unlocked my phone (restored to 1.1.4) using the 2.6b version and I have the famous "numbers displayed instead of names" problem. Is there a fix that you recommend. The fix that comes with the unlock.no package clearly states that it is only for version 1.1.1 (or 1.1.2).

FOR THE ITOUCH I COULD NOT, I REPEAT COULD NOT PRESS JAILBREAK AND ACTIVATE. I had to go to advanced and then just check the jailbreak box and then start....try that
Mail was not working after update from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. Restore did not help for me.
Finally I fixed it by changing rights of /var/mobile/Library/mail.

yo my ipod touch is bugging out right about now. idk whats wrong with it. the new ziphone 3.0 thing said if it took longer than ten mins then to cancell it. so i did. now i tried doing it again and all it says is apple usb cable connected, start stack. then it comes up Stack Alert! need configuration. now my computer wont reconize my ipod and i cant connect to itunes or anything. and i never got the ziphone on it.

Ziphone whas so good before but now in 3.0 it fucked up my whole ipod:S first i tried to jailbreak and get to BSD Root minor problems and i had to restore.. Now my wifi is fucked up and i tried to fix wifi with ziphone and know all my songs and videos are deleted:S

A stupid typo made by the mac GUI programmer was sending the wrong command to the command line version.
No harm has been done.
Just recovery>>dfu>>restore then use ziphone again.
About people not having installer:
Don't run ziphone in recovery mode.
ZiPhone must be run when the phone is in NORMAL mode. (Slide for emergency)
Other than that ZiPhone is simply perfect.
Every problem you might have is because of misuse.
Check the youtube videos... they are very self-explainatory !

I have used many of your versions and never had a problem....except for the ziphone 3.0,
I used it with iPhone 16G OTB 1.1.4,
1. Recovery Mode, 2. clicked on "Do it all", everything works fine except that there is no "Installer" and I can't connect using WinSCP...
I tried again but the same issue...I had to unlock it using Ziphone 2.6b...
Any idea what I'm missing here?

I'm sure this was asked million of times. But what is the difference between Recovery mode and DFU mode?
Can there please be an option on 3.1 to jailbreak and install installer without any of the extras (bsd, ssh). I believe that those should be opt in, not included because some of us prefer installing those type of things from installer so that they can continue to be updated. Other than that, keep up the great work :)

I want to know how to install third party applications on my Iphone, I have done as instructed after downloading the laest Ziphone and nothing happens after doing all the jailbreaing etc. The only thing I noticed is that in the Installer (featured Applications) wallpaper and the rest but the part where you import contacts from your sim card that I cant find in the settings-Phone as I did see the picture in you web, click to see a surprise. I jailborke it with the previus version and everything was right. When I made the jailbreak process with version 3.0 I had these keyboard freezing problem...
The issue solved with DFU mode jailbreak.

I've run your program in "Do it all" mode on OTB 8gb 1.1.4 firmware phone (no pre-restore though). No errors during the process. All was looking great (SIM card working - Plus
GSM polish carrier, able to make / rec calls) until I connected it to home Wi-Fi (D-Link DI-524). Worked superb but just for 5 mins. Then phone frozen to death. Hard reboot did
the job obviously but it booted into 'slide to unlock' screen which was not responsive anyway. After few more restarts phone was back in action but Wi-Fi became grey. Reset
all settings made wifi normal again ('not connected' status). Obviously tried to connect again. Phone was stuck straight at connection attempt. Reset - same troubles again. I
restored to original 1.1.4 in iTunes, run Ziphone, still 'no wifi'. Tested your wifi fix - no result. Also tried to go back to 1.1.3, Ziphoned, no-wifi again. Checked via iBooter (radio
readnvram) and see all 3 mac addresses though if I go to Settings>General>About wifi MAC address field shows "NA".
I would stay calm if it was my own phone. Unfortunately owner (my friend at work) is getting increasingly upset with me. Please help me get out of this silly situation.

Thank you so much for this. I was able to Jailbreak my 32gb Touch with 1.1.4 on the first try. I was so excited about using installer to get all the great apps out there, that I didn't try out my original 1.1.4 apps. Every time I start to enter text on the keyboard, I'm able to get one or two keystrokes and then it freezes. This happens in Weather, Stocks, Safari, Notepad, and It just happened when I was trying to add a source in installer. I tried uninstalling everything, but it still acted up. I also reset the settings. What do you think is causing this? Thanks again.

And by the way even if the thieves will change the IMEI, ziphone does NOT really change it.. it just fakes it.
As soon as they restore or upgrade, they will get the original imei back :D

I almost bricked a friend iPhone yesterday, iTunes popped up some message while I has updating that broke the connection or something, because it was studk in a loop, even on reset, so I have to manually get the phone into recovery mode, software solutions did not work. But I got it working, great product none the less.
Ok i used ziphone to unlock my phone a couple weeks ago and all of the sudden today my wifi stopped working....does anyone else have this problem or can help me??

I am using ziphone v3.0 using a windows xp computer. My Iphone is version 1.1.4. Everything works great. I can make and recieve calls and text. Wi-fi and bluetooth works great too. I just cannot connect to the EDGE network. Can someone please help me. I made sure I was subscribed to the All inclusive internet package with T-mobile, but for some reason cant connect to it. The error messages I get are: Safari cant open the page because it cant find the server. And, Could not activate EDGE: You are not subscribed to EDGE. PLEASE help anyone.

I unlocked a couple of 8gb iphones with version 2.6b and worked great, but now I have two 16gb iphones which I unlocked with 3.0 and neither youtube nor installer work. Youtube just doesn't find anything and installer never finishes refreshing sources.
I tried a hundred different solutions for this, but i still have the same problem. Any hints?

ok i need some help, this thing was working great then the web browser would not load any new sources.
i restored it and loaded it again and it freezes every time i try to use installer,
i think by loading the Ziphone too many times it slowed down my ipod.
i need a wway to wipe out ALL the ZIPHONE info so when i load it again it will act like my ipod was a virgen the whole time.

Don't make users install Installer & BSD. Instead, give us a choice between installing either:
