By the way, while I certainly respect your work (and use it for my own separate travel iPhone), Steve's strategy for iPhone is doing just well -- I know you want to suggest that opening up iPhone to all carriers would result in crazy sales for Apple, but sadly, that is not so. It will sell, initially, but not provide a sustainable growth rate, or additional revenue streams that allow further developments of the platform.
The problem a lot of people like yourselves have, is the problem of being impatient. Apple is following the proper strategy, but it is a slow strategy that does eventually pay off for everyone.
No one considers you (or others) the enemy - the recent words at the shareholder meeting pretty much explained that unlocked iPhones in non-supported countries only demonstrate a strong demand in those countries -- a demand that will turn into sales once those countries are activated.
As such, efforts such as your own, in creating a very easy, very reliable, and very stable unlock tool for iPhone actually assist in the global spread of iPhone far more than if Apple just sold iPhone unlocked.

Why don't you implement the 3.9 fake blank method to ZiPhone?
All the ZiPhone users would have a backup (You never know) rather than to downgrade irreversibly (at least software) to 3.9 BL...
I certainly would think of it as an even better ZiPhone. And so would lots of other folks...

No, we aren't impatient. Maybe you could tell us to be impatient just becouse, maybe, you've got an iPhone since the 29th of June '07!
Yes, i was impatient after '07 Steve's keynote, but i had patience until June when i understood that the iPhone was US only, at least until the end of '08....well it's March '08 and there's still no iPhone here in Italy. I was dreaming an iPhone multitouch since i brought my first iPod in 2002, and now no money-deal Apple-carriers is stopping me to use it. I'll unlock it until it won't come out without 2 years contract. It should be for prepaid users too, i could understand to tie it to just one carrier, but it really should be for prepaids too!
I really hope that Apple won't stop anymore all the unlock methods and re-thinks about an iPhone for prepaid users WORLDWIDE.

hello zibri, first off I would like to say I love your product for how ever long I had it on my 8gb iPod touch. I had it for 1.1.3 and It was fine but something went wrong and I had to restore it to 1.1.4 and then when I tried to use ziphone it stops at "spamming at, waiting for response. Is this one of the things your planning on fixing by getting your iPod or Is there something I can do? Thank you for your help :)

Maybe I know where you're at with your intro here. I don't think it's what fizzdifferent believes. My opinion is that the iPhone is able to convert people to MAC. Although MAC's have always been better, they were'nt financiable. The iPhone is, be it OTB with contract or not. Some examples: My wife does not want the iPhone, she now NEEDS the AirBook. I in turn am now interested in the Apple TV. Why? Because a small company produced a litte APP called Signal, which allows me to control my Media on the Home unit via the IPhone. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. Steve has always been better Q than Bill, but Bill has - to now - had the better marketing strategy. THIS is changing ;-)

Zibri, you are a very talented iPhone hacker, although you may have realized that your jailbreak method causes the locate me feature to become unusable. I would suggest that you implement a fix in you ziphone compilation. It shouldn't be a problem for some one as talented as your self.

I have 1.1.2 ootb no sim unlock but jailbroken if I use 2.5 will I loose all my current apps and info. Do I just conect my iPhone to computer (mac) and hit do it all to get unlock or because I'm jailbroken on 1.1.2 can I just do an unlock?

zibri... please bundle Cydia with ZiPhone and make Cydia and Installer user installable options, each including their own respective subsystem install. if user wishes to install both, then make Cydia's subsystem default, and install fake bsd automatically so iphone/user is off to a good start. we 'really' need to move users away from installer and onto Cydia, as it is OPEN SOURCE, thus, it is in the communities best interests.

I got a iphone 16gb as gift frm by brother in NY. I could not unlock rather somehow it is now in recovery mode. when I connected to itunes it starts restore but the down load stops in-between.

Hello, I have a humble request for future versions of ZiPhone. Could you please make the inclusion of installer.app or any other app as part of the jailbreak process an optional thing?
I do not need, nor want installer.app on my iPhone, I just want to activate and perhaps sim unlock (if iPhone simfree does no longer function) my iPhone, and that is IT. Nothing else, just a normal iphone, only with my own simcard inside it, no unnecessary apps, hacks or modifications.
Currently the inclusion of installer.app seems to be mandatory with jailbreak and "ziphone -a" by itself does not activate my iPhone, lone activation is all I need really.

This is the 2nd time I am having the same problem while using the ziphone tool. The iphone works great and tnx to Zibri, but after using the full auto installation, my mp3 files are converted to some format that can't be deleted or replaced. In other words, when I run the itunes what I see is 4-5 GBs of "other" format files (like system files that u can't reach through iTunes) and can't be deleted before I restore and format the iphone.
Any experience ? Help needed

I made a choice for bootloader.
And it's for a reason.
I am not forcing anyone to use ziphone.
Not even encouraging.
And no, I don't care about "them".
The bootloader I put with ziphone is the original one.
No mods.
And it's official.
If apple wants to upgrade it they can.
No testpoint needed.
If apple won't upgrade it then it will be official
as It has always been.

I have 1.13 OTB 16GB IPhone, I restored FW to 1.14 using ITune.
Then used Ziphone 2.5c with "Do IT ALL" option, every single features work perfectly fine.
However, how can I reverse Unlock (revirginize) phone to factory default when I needed service?

I've done unlock using Ziphone 2.5c (Do it all) and my phone is 1.14FW works perfectly fine.
However, is it true that "Do it all" is not reversible to Factory Default?
If it's not, how can I restore phone to Factory default when I needed service?
so i went and bought myself a phone the other day. I then -j,-a,-u the phone. Not realizing i need to -d(-b?) to 3.9 before hand. so now it wont -a. Can anyone please help me. i need to -a. it keeps saying complete successfully but its stuck on the "slide for emergency screen"

I want the latest updates (FW, BB, BL) for my iPhone. Is this posible?
MacBook Pro, OSX 10.5.2, ITunes 7.6, OTB 1.1.1 iPhone, upgraded to 1.1.2 via iTunes. Jailbroken and unlocked by unknown software. Did the 1.1.3 upgrade and unlock with Ziphone 2.2. Worked beautifully and a week later, wifi gone. Did restore (from recovery mode) with Ziphone 2.5c (on Mac) and still no wifi. Re did the restore (and as a new phone) with the full hardware DFU as per the troubleshooting guide on Ziphone 2.5c and still no permanent wifi. Only once was I able to see my home network, connected, installed Converter (from Installer) and never again able to connect to wifi (it basically does not even find the name of my network, even if I type it in on the other network field. Sorry for all the details, just wanted to be sure that all who read this know what I have tried to do. Glad to donate to whomever can permanently fix my problem!!

Just wanted to let you know that I have a way to jailbreak any iTouch using ziphone 2.5 for windows. Click on the jailbreak button once, wait for the touch to reboot, and then click a ton of times like you are a fucking crack monkey. Once it gets past the part where there usually is an error, unplug the touch.

I tried to jailbreak my ITouch 8Gb 1.1.3 with your Ziphone 2.4 and 2.5 but it didn't work! -> I had the looping message on "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0". So I was looking for on google if someone found a solution to this problem (I red on your blog that the problem appears for 16 Gb ITouch or 32 only) but incredible I found a video which explains how succed to jailbreak ITouch 16 Gb and probably 32Gb (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=128280630216556195) ... you just need to clik several times on the "jailbreak" button during the jailbreak process! It works for ITouch 16 Gb and for my ITouch. Thanks to you for your soft and to Mempf for his trick

3.9 is safe and official and something like 2 MIL people already downgraded.
If apple wants to upgrade it, they just need the usual fls and eep files like in firmware 1.1.1.

I have been reading on the net, various other iPhone hacking sites that there is a low level confrontation going on between the hacking communities. Why this is happening is nothing less that stupid and a time waster. Instead of working together, people are working against each other against a common cause (hacking the iPhone). We have seen that a community combined is better than individuals. Can all parties involved have a group hug, admit that everyone is helpful in his or her own way and continue on. iPhone 2.0 will surely be a touch nut to crack and all the help possible will be needed.

If I may abuse of his talent, it would be nice to have something written in Ziphone that would erase everything on the phone, including previous JB methods, so they do not interfere with Ziphone. I am pretty sure that my unknown JB method is clashing with Ziphone and is the cause of my non working Wi Fi. If anyone knows how to fix the issue I posted above, please do help me and I will gladly reimburse you for your time. I need my wifi back!!!

Zibri, this program is awsome. I was on 1.0.2 with a real old unlock program and was very afraid to upgrade cause I didn't want a BRICK. With your program I was able to upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4 without any problem. I first picked the REFURBISH option to go back to stock and upgrade to 1.1.4. Then I used the DO IT ALL option to unlock. Finally I resync'd my original data and now I am a happy camper. You get my donation!
