with iPod Touch OTB 1.1.3 on mac with iTunes 7.6
in verbose the iPod repeats after information about mac address:
BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

no work for all touch. Nobody know yet reason. For some users work fine, for other users:

BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

all the time after information mac address.

I get "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" too on ipod touch on a mac. Help!!!!11!!

Pawel said...

iTunes 7.6 on a Mac doesn't seem to disrupt anything. Unfortunately, on some iPods

BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

repeats in loop. Disconnecting / connecting cable shows info on iPod, that it "cannot start - needs configuration"...

Zibre, on the package you introduced GUI you broke something. The previous release is working in everything even with iTunes 7.6 while the GUI ones does no work for me on any fw (tryied in 1.02, 1.1.1 and 1.1.3)

The one BEFORE gui, works flawlessly.

I can confirm on my side.

Brand new Ipod touch with 1.1.3 OOTB (never jailbreaked or downgraded to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2),Itunes 7.6, under Windows XP.
Took less than 2 minutes to be jailbreaked.

All works fine: Wifi, Installer...

thanks zibri

I'm another victim of the "bsd major minot" bug, purchased my 16gb iPod around january (1.1.2 original fw).

Zibri, please try and fix this!

karthik said...

Hey zibree i had an 1.1.2 OOB phone which i had jaibreaked, then i updated my iphone to 1.1.3 through itunes and then activated jailbreaked and unlocked the new firmware using ur method(the software u released before fixing the bugs). my phone works fine including all applications . My firmware is 4.02.13G now..however i am not able to run certain applications after downloading from the installer..is there something that i should do now?

Pawel said...

to karthik: a lot of pre-1.1.3 3rd party software titles don't work due to changes in 1.1.3. It is not Zibri's fault :)

The download link is not there anymore?

Great news! Thanks

BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

iPod Touch OOB 1.1.3 ... I've tried every combination I can think of to get this to work. Any fix?

Ratty said...

I suspect this may only work for those without the January software update. I have the January update (it came with my iPod) and it sticks on the "BSD root: md0, marjor 2, minor 0" loop. The guy in the video doesn't have this update.

I got the same problem with bsd major minor, tried it a few times with the jailbreak, but it doesnt work. Even itunes won't restore the phone, so is there any possibility to make the os working again right now ?

Pawel said...

And.. how about ZiPhone 2.0 and fixing these BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 ??

KoSoVaR said...

Fuck.. got the same BSD problem here.. can't even downgrade to 1.1.1 now.. or restore.. BSD minor problem

Emmanuel said...

BSD root issues: it could be related go iTouch size...

I have the 16gb.. just bought it in january, 1.1.3 out of the box

BSD route: md0, major 2, minor 0

^^that is the error that I got. I was using an otb 1.1.1 that had been upgraded to 1.1.3 with January Software Upgrade. It was a clean 1.1.3 iPod touch, and it was NOT jailbroken. Any help?

I built an OSX 10.4 PPC-ONLY version of ZiPhoneOSX 2.0. I don't have the binaries to build a 10.4 Intel version so someone else will have to do that.

It's at: http://rapidshare.com/files/91677038/ZiPhone_104_PPC_OSX.zip.html

The first time I ran it I got the BSD root: md0 loop but I simply put the iPod back into recovery, restored 1.1.3 via iTunes and ran it a second time per the directions on iClarified.com.

Pawel said...

hmm... the size suggestion is what I thought about too. My iPod is 16 GB and "BSD...." error is filling the display ;)

CONFIRMED! ziphone -j -v works ONLY with 8GB iTouches :( just performed jailbreak flawlessly :) my 16GB - BSD major/minor etc.

Here, another 16GB with the "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" looping...

Regarding the BSD looping error, some of you wrote that you managed to restore you ipod.

Nevertheless, I did not manage to do so; as soon as I restart my ipod on "restoration" mode, it keeps on starting the loop.

jr, how did you do?

Hi Zibri:

Do you have a "manual" for dum computer people like me?. I just bought for my wife the iphone 1.1.3 and wanted to unlocked but to be honest, can't understand what I need to do and download in order to unlock the phone, can you help me? eliteforz@gmail.com

Thank you!!

For those of you who think the BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 error is restricted to 8GB ipods, I just bought a 8GB model today and got the error... All I want is to be able to read PDFs when I'm offline but that won't be possible. This is why I hate apple, their products are so unempowering...

francissmith76 said...

i have the 8gb touch and i got the bsd error, but there is no way of getting the ipod into restore mode! It just doesn't work please help!!!!

Hi Zibri, you're doing a great job! I'd like to thank you! I just used ZiPhone 2.1 to unlock my 1.1.1 iPhone and it's working OK, except that I'm not able to add a internet page to the home screen, using + (plus) icon. I'm receving the message "could not add this page to the Home screen because an error occurred.". It's seems that is some problem with directory permissions. Is there a fix for that?

Once again, thanks!

My first attempt at Jailbreaking for 3rd party apps on my brand new iPhone was 11/30/07 the last attempt was 2/13/08. I used a -j -v only and everything works but YouTube but thats OK as fixs haven't for YouTube require more effort than it's worth because I have a YT account with a screen Icon. Thank You for being the first one through the "Jailbreak Door" as it is not always best to be the first through the door. Keep the faith hopfully this is only my first omage for your efforts.

Just got my OTB OPT with 1.1.3 on it...tried to jailbreak it with Ziphone and got stuck at
BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 tried to restore back to 1.1.3 and I get an error occurred (1). Is there a fix for this?

I have a PROBLEM!!! My 16 gb ipod touch is stuck on the black screen when the ziphone does its thing to jailbreak (Black screen with the white code lines)!!

The ipod won't respond and every time i reset it and turn it back on, the screen turns black again and shows the code, and my mac cannot recognize that my ipod touch is connected.

My ipod touch repeats the same line of code "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0"

If anyone can help me, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hey , i recently jailbroke (with ZiPhone) an iTouch 16gb. But when i put it backonto itunes to "activate" it, or sync it, it came up with an error saying it could not connect. Is it possible that since it was originally activated on another mac, and a different itunes. That it doesnt wanna sync with the current macbook?

WTFMyPodFrezes said...

can some1 help me i jailbrok my itoch 8g and it frezes when i use the keyboard on it!

macky said...

Is there gonna be a new version of ziphone coming soon for the 16 gb itouch? I think the current version only leaves the "bsd root major 2 minor 0" error.

(btw if you get that error hold menu and sleep for about 10sec until the itunes logo pops up on your itouch (has to be connected) and then manually restore on itunes :) )

Would the Ziphone update an itouch with version 2.0 firmware on it?
