iPhone Unlock and Jailbreak

Bugs?!

2/13/2008 12:14:00 PM - 50 comments

Well i did this test:

1) entered DFU (black screen) mode.
2) fully restored to 1.1.3.
3) shutdown the phone and reboot.
4) run: ziphone -a -j -u from command line (latest archive)

The phone rebooted after 2 minutes.
Everything is ok.
Youtube works.

Then:
1) open installer.
2) update community sources.
3) goto System category and install BSD Subsystem.
4) in System category install openssh as well.

My pc is running windows XP sp2 with all patches.
Itunes 7.5 (completely uninstall itunes 7.6 http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698 ) then install 7.5 (i think 7.4.3 will work too)

And of course the latest archive of ziphone.
Unzip it in a directory.
Then
1) open command prompt
2) cd to that directory
3) ziphone -a -j -u

Do not close itunes after restore.
Do not touch it's window.
Just wait 2 minutes.

Note:
When a new version of ZiPhone comes out,
delete the old version (the whole directory)
And use the new archive.
ZiPhone and zibri.dat must be of the same archive.

Hi - can anyone answer my question? I'm confused with the "must be 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 out the box".

I have a US iphone that was originally 1.0.x when new. It is now an activated and jailbroken 1.1.2. Can I just restore/upgrade to 1.1.3 through iTunes and then jailbreak, activate and unlock with ZiPhone?

Thanks!

with 3.9BL what can I do if I don't have baseband? bbupdater fails. Will ziphone help me thorough this problem?

Zibree, I confirm that ZiPhone works beautifully on OTB 1.1.2 & 1.1.3 also OTB 1.1.2 restored to 1.1.3 via DFU... all this on BootLoader 4.6.

But, on a 3.9 BootLoader it only Activates and Jailbreaks a 1.1.2 and NOT a 1.1.3 (i.e. after restoring)

Kindly look into this issue at your earliest my friend.

Zibri,
First thanks for your great job...really appreciated.

Ok...not related with the Iphone directly but I can confirm that your app works fine for an Ipod Touch 1.1.3 OOTB. Did it with the option Jailbreak only and in less than 2 minutes my Ipod Touch was jailbreaked without any need to downgrade it in 1.1.1 or else.

Thanks from Canada and go head with your good work.

what means

ierase bl 3.9 baseband?

whats the finality??

Sorry for me english

I've jailbroken my 1.1.2 OTB with ZiPhone 1.0.
Is there any use to do it again with the latest ZiPhone v1.1?
Anything better, fixed?

@Zibri
You're goin' very fast...
You'll get Cupertino confused! LOL
Keep goin'! :)))

3.9 BL is NOT an issue.

Just use ziphone -a -j

Then install BSD subsystem and add http://installer.iclarified.com as installer source.

Then install AnySim1.3, put the phone in airplane mode and unlock !

@testo:

iErase 3.9 BL is for people who have NO IMEI, or WiFi or Bluetooth. A corrupt baseband. This option helps people come out of a 'bricked' phone.

Zibri mate thx for all the great efforts you are giving.
First of all i do all steps u described 1 by 1 on vista itune 7.5( restoring to 1.1.3 ) and all i have is the endless Apple logo which was not an issue under ziphone 1.0... BL is 3.9

Could you please check whatever if something is wrong.

@Zibri:

I've tested more than 5 phones with a 3.9 BL:

1). Restored via DFU to 1.1.3
2). Did ziphone -a -j
3). Just comes back to the Activation screen after 45 seconds.

I'm currently on Vista Ultimate using iTunes 7.5.

@Zibri:

User 'seckin' is facing the same issue as I'm.

I'm not the only one facing this problem.

For vista users:

Use the latest version BUT put manually the iphone in recovery mode before running ZiPhone.

I had the issue with the Apple Logo just hanging on the screen but after about an hour or messing around I managed to get past it. I used the Verbose boot option while in Restore Mode and it seemed to finish up the jailbreak and now my phone works flawlessly.

@Zibri:

Thanks for the update.

Will keep you posted of the results.

P.S. I use the dfu.exe tool to bring the phone into DFU mode. Is there a tool for Recovery?

Zibri

Thanks or your work, its very much appreciated.

I'm still not able to get ziphone working. I'm unlocking 2 iphones, 1 1.1.2 OTB, the other 1.1.3 OTB. I've restored bothe of them to 1.1.3 and rebooted them. When I run ziphone GUI with jailbreak, activate and unlock ticked I just get the permanent silver apple displayed.

I'm running XP SP2, itunes 7.5 and have tried this several times with itunes running and also not running.

I have also tried a different computers with exactly the same result. I've tried ziphone 1.0 and 1.1. still the same result.

Any ideas for fixing this? I've tried a complete reboot of my computer before running ziphone but no difference.

Zibri,

recovery mode = DFU mode, correct?

I have a OOB 1.1.2, restored via iTunes 7.5 (to 1.1.3).

And I put it im DFU mode and applying the app. All it says is,

"searching for phone..."

:/

Vista Ultimate, iTunes 7.5.

Hello and congratulations!!!

I just wanted to ask you, let's say I buy a 1.1.2 OOTB, and I run your program. It will jailbreak, activate and unlock it.

But what will happen if I connect it to iTunes and upgrade to 1.1.3??? Will there be a problem???
Thanks!

hmm still no chance on vista 7.5 itunes. Maybe i am missing something as i am on 3.9 i am not writing -u command. is it causing problem??

No.. recovery mode is recovery mode (icon on iphone screen to connect to itunes).

Dfu must NOT be used with ZiPhone.

DFU must be used only BEFORE restoring to 1.1.3 (or 1.1.2)

Recovery mode is NOT DFU mode...

What I do, when ZiPhone says "please put in recovery mode..." is:

1.) power off iPhone
2.) hold HOME while putting phone in the DOCK
3.) iPhone enters recovery mode
4.) ZiPhone does it's work.

I can confirm it works on BL 3.9...

Great work, Zibri!

Zibree, Im suffering from wifi disconnected everytime I press Home button, but if I stay in that particular application without press Home button its remain connected. Eg: if Im on Safari and connected to wifi, its remain connected. Once I press Home button to return to springboard, its disconnected. Is this a bug?

Hopefully this won't be buried under 3 million comments asking the same thing...

For those of us already on AT&T / O2. I naievely restored to 1.1.3 using iTunes. Then I ran the ZiPhone tool with the -a -j options. This seemed to work. But I get no signal now - apparently the 1.1.3 baseband checks if your SIM is an iPhone one now and not just AT&T / O2.

What would your suggestion for people in this situation be?

If I can't keep the 1.1.3 baseband I'd rather install a locked 1.1.2 baseband (to try and keep the phone safe when using iTunes updates). Is this possible?

Thank you Angelo.

Restored to 1.1.3 again, put it in RECOVERY MODE (correct image on display). Applied the app and this time it goes further than "searching for iPhone," .. it goes to "loading zibri.dat"

but now it's been like this for about ten minutes! Any suggestions?

Thanks, Zibri.

Thanks for the work!
Worked beautifully on 10.5.2 on a 3.9bl iphone.
Updated directly from 1.0.2 to 1.1.3, ran ziphone, ran anysim... no problems whatsoever.

@dai

I don't know if this has something to do, but when I ran it on Vista, I choose to be on the (very) safe side and opened the command prompt as an administrator (so as to not run into any permission issues)

To do that you right click on the icon for the command prompt in the start menu and click on the option that says "run as administrator". then you navigate to the ziphone directory and run it...

Please tell me if that works for you..

oops... I forgot: before doing that I make sure the iPhone was being seen by itunes. Then I ran ZiPhone (as an administrator)and when it told me to put it in recovery mode i powered off and enter recovery mode...

ZiPhone continued as soon as the phone was detected by windows....

Angelo, I didn't try your solution, because I was in the midst of giving the original instructions one more go, and voila!

1.1.3 ready to go in Denmark. I'm gonna sell this bad boy and get the 16 GB one!

Thank you Zibri and Angelo!

Same here Pete Woods, no signal although I'm not O2/AT&T/Orange, I'm using a Vodafone SIM and there's just no signal or No Service tags. Tried to unlock several times now, hrm.

I too spent a couple hours with the Apple Logo Hang... the solution?

Run ZiPhone with the verbose mode option "-v". Got me up and running after six or seven attempts and full restores. I ran ziphone -j -a -v.

Zibree, if you are reading... there is an issue with some of us that requires the "-v" option. Check to see if there is something other than print to stdout going on with -v mode.

Totally agree with David. Never had any porblem on ziphone 1.0 but this cant be done with out -v (debug) command. 1.1.1 OOB vista itunes 7.5 --->1.1.3 .
i didnt have any porblems with older version but i am trying to do it again wth new ziphone in order to have if any bug fixes implemented mentioned??

Thanks Zibri..

Hi Zibri,
I am in Canary Islands (Spain) and we do not have much information on iPhone here. I beg you help with my US OTB 1.1.2 restored to 1.1.3. I have used today your excellet application and it works fine except for the bluetooth and wifi. I tried doin -u option but it did not work I am in a vista PC with itunes 7.4. I have downgraded to 1.1.1 and then to 1.1.2 and no bluetooth , etc,.. I am desperate...
Now I am stuck on an jailbreaked 1.1.3 with original IMEI, no ICCID (blank) no Bluetooth (00:00:...)
Some friends of mine have used your software with success. I also have to tell that I have the bluetooth problem since I was in 1.1.2 Jailbreaked and unlocked with a NextSim.

Plese let me know what can I do...

Thanks a lot.

To those of you that are suffering from the endless Apple logo on the iPhone for much longer than the time that ziphone states it will take:

After waiting a long time (don't be impatient), try powering off your phone using the home and sleep buttons. Once it's powered off, make sure iTunes and iTunes helper aren't running, then press and hold the home button while you plug your iPhone into the dock or dock cable. This will put your phone into recovery mode, as you know. Then run ziphone with the -v (Verbose Boot) option ONLY, and it should boot normally and the options you used originally (to activate, jailbreak, or unlock) should have taken effect.

The system I did this on was a PBG4, running 10.5.2 with iTunes 7.6 (and I did NOT swap MobileDevice libraries either).

Hope that helps you debug things, Zibri.

It's even easier, instead of doing any checking to see if you'll have problems or not, if you're on a Mac and you don't have a OTB 1.1.2 or 1.1.3, then use ./ziphone -v -a -j -u or whatever optinos you want, but with -v in there.

When you use the Verbose Boot (debug) -v Option everything works. I also had the great apple logo there all the time.
With the -v options it works.
Good luck mates.

I used the ZiPhone in my 1.1.2OTB and it worked for all functions but the Phone.
It identifies my SIM but when I try to use the phone it goes back to the home screen.

Any ideas?

Thank again for updating :)

Should I update to 1.1.3 thru iTunes?

Well I thought this would be easy but it's not. I used Ziphone GUI 1.0 and all it did was lock my phone to the Apple logo screen. Then I saw there was 2.0, so I downloaded that one, downgraded to iTunes 7.4.2 and now everytime I go to run Ziphone 2.0 with Activate, Jailbreak, it just says loading zibri.dat. So can anyone help me so I can just get my phone to work again? Maybe keep it stupid proof too so I can actually know what I'm doing.

Please follow these steps for 3.9BL

1.First Of all You Should Have 1.1.3 Software On Your iPhone
By Clicking The
ENTER DFU MODE.bat On Ziphone 2.3 Folder.
Go To Itunes Hold Shift>Choose The 1.1.3 Firmware If You Dont Have It Copy this Link:: http://tinyurl.com/36vvos And "Download it"
And Let It Update If You All Ready
Have This Firmware On Your Iphone Skip This Step.

2."Skip this step If your Iphone Is
Activated"
Now You are going to be on the activation screen, go to ziphone check the Jailbreak box
And The Activate Box Too, Connect Your Iphone And Start The Process
After Couple Of "Min" Your Iphone Will Be Activated "THANK YOU ZIBRI"
"ALL THANKS TO ZIBRI".

3.Go to Installer, Install, All Categories, And Install
BSD SUBSYSTEM.

4.Press The Installer Icon, Go To Sources, Click On "EDIT" Then "ADD", Type in "http://installer.iClarified.Com
Then Press Ok, And Press Done, Now Go To, Install, And You Will Find the "iClarified" There, Now Ignore That We Will Come Back Later, Press The Home Button, Go to Settings, General, Press on
Auto-Lock And Choose Never, Now Go Back To Installer, Categories, Press On "iClarified" Choose "BaseBand Updater" Install It And Let It Do Its Work " Dont Touch Anything Until It Finishes This May Cause A Damage To Your iPhone And I am Not Responsable "

5.Now Go To Installer, Install, Choose "iClarified".
Install Anysim 1.3.

This Is The Final Step
After You Install Anysim 1.3
Go To Settings>Put The Flight Mode
"ON", Press Home Button Then Choose The Anysim Icon,
SLIDE TO UNLOCK,
OK AND UNLOCK MY PHONE,
