In the picture: Robert Picardo (voyager holographic doctor)Some facts:
- ZiPhone never bricked an iPhone not even during first personal tests.
- ZiPhone actually repaired many previously bricked iPhones.
- 99% of "bugs" I have been reported are for the same reason.
- ZiPhone never touches internal security data. -i option just fakes them.
You can restore the phone to "refurbished" state just issuing:
ziphone -e
then ziphone -D and do a full restore to any os. (thieves, you are warned!)
Some common mistakes:
iTunes should not be killed. ZiPhone is against violence :)
and just ignores it and it's helper.
OSX users often have vmware running.
ZiPhone and iTunes must run on the same OS.
When doing a full restore with -D option, set
the phone as a new phone in iTunes and sync back
your data. That's the most common mistake.
The reason: data backed up from previous
jailbroken iPhones is wrong for a real 1.1.3 OS.
When you open Installer for the first time,
refresh sources, then install BSD Subsystem
from the System category before installing anything else !
About the "low space issue", there is a utility
you can find in Installer that can move the
application directory to the second iPhone
partition thus allowing you to have has many
application your brain could bear :)
If you want to have the Z icon back after deleting,
there is a 'secret' option that restores only the icon
hint: it was meant for test)
The options of ZiPhone are case sensitive! I did that
on purpose to allow people to focus before issuing
commands and read the usage.
Enough said for now,
Namaste!
Zibri.

thanks zibri!
Zibri, you say "99% of "bugs" I have been reported are for the same reason.", and then post a link, that is not possible to access.
Can you elaborate?
Thanks... Now, what was that idea you had for iPod touch support? Did it not work out? ;)
great! and connect the irc or messenger.
great!
Should we still use iTunes 4.2, or is it okay to use 7.6 now?
simply EXCELENT

no need to be rude..
the blogspot editor changed my link
in some rubbish.
Corrected.
It wasn't a link... it just pointed to the answer below.
Zibri, i re-read my comment, and i don't "feel" it is rude.
Maybe is because is neither of us our mother language.
It was never meant to be rude.
So the problem is the sync then ...
Thanks for your great app.
Zibri!!!!!! Please upload missing GUI Version for 2.4 in windows. It is easy to use Please!!! Upload ziphoneGUI.exe..
EXCELENT !! Thank you for your help.
My iphone is free and happy : >
Pramod Kumar: From what I tried, you can just drop the ziphonegui.exe in the 2.4 files, and it'll work. ziphonegui.exe is only a wrapper for the ziphone.exe that is behind.

Hey Zibri,
can you use ziphone -e to restore even 4.6BL iPhones, even though in the readme.txt it states that -e is only available to 3.9 phones?
Thx! :-)
moving apps gives you more room, but still we cant have more than 80 in 1.1.3 cause springboard then crashes (its not related to ziphone, but maybe someone will think so after reading you message)

Hi Zibri
I upgraded my 1.1.1 OTB ihpone to 1.1.3 (using virginizer before) and I used ziphone 2.3. Now I have the 1.1.3 firmware but wifi doesn't work, the phone lost the connections when a run any application (Safari, Maps...). I tried to set the phone as a new iphone, I erased network settings but wifi still doesn't work.
I restored 6 or 7 times and used ziphone 2.4 but it's always the same
What can I do?
P.S: Thank you so much for your work and sorry about my bad english
You r da man....
Will this work on UK iphone OTB with 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 ?

hey zibri,
so if you restore with the -e and -d command will the bootloader remain downgraded if it was downgraded via ziphone or will be updated back to 4.6?
Would be great if that happens.
Thnx. N keep up the gud work.
Hi, after the unlock of my iphone 1.1.2 Jailbraked and activated trought the old way the installer doesen't work! I'm not able to download anything!
What is the problem?
Congratulation for your work. Is it normal that we can no longer use iphonelist with your method?

I'm getting crazy... Ziphone not working for iPod Touch 16GB, ijailbreak not even working for ipod touch at all... ijailbreak mobile from installer... asking me for password when upgrading software... I went back to 1.1.2 and now iPhone apps are nowhere, no repos for them... GRRRRRR this is making me so upset hahaha.
How is it going with your ideas about iPod Touch 16 Zibri?
You really deserve our donations heheh... we are SO DEMANDING!
;)
zibri you R the man!
Thank u for your work
Hi Siddharth, the bootloader will remain downgraded as you cannot currently upgrade the bootloader using a software method. The ziphone -e erases the baseband, the ziphone -d puts the phone in a special restore mode, and then from there you restore the phone through itunes to rewrite the baseband and firmware.

Hello Zibri,
Your tool is perfect. The latest version (2.4) works perfectly under 1.1.3! Thank you!
Hi zibri,
Im a freshman in this brick/unlock/jailbreak thing and I have with me 2 OTB iPhones 1.1.3 (8 and 16 Gb) never used or even plugged on. From all my research I think your method is definitely the most easy-to-use and apparently the safest available.
If I download ziphone 2.4 from here and use the step-by-step instructions showned on iclarified, do you think it wont be any problems or bugs? And should I use itunes 7.6 or do you recommend a previous version?
thank you for your time and work.
If your application work fine I will be more than happy to donate for your cause. I dont have much money (I'm portuguese, by the way), but I think it's more than fair to redeem your great effort.
Working Perfectly with Ipod Touch
Thanks!
Thank you Zibri for all your work!!!!
Well I've just used it on my 112 OTB restored to 113. It works great until now. Right now I dont have an Access Point so cant test the Wi-Fi but probably will work.
Thanks alot
P.S.: SRBIJA KO NOKIA, SVAKE GODINE SVE MANJA :)
Thanks Zibri,
but u forget put file ziphoneGUI.exe for download ZiPhone 2.4(win+osx) *FAST MIRROR.

hi, anybody expert in syncing between iphone and outlook (2007)
I have lots of issues I haven't been able to solve like:
-syncing tasks and notes
-syncing explorer favorites
-trouble syncing contacts in both directions
thanks for any help
Hi!
I have an 8GB iPod Touch, freshly restored to 1.1.3 (with the $20 softwares update). I have iTunes 7.6, Windows Vista Ultimate, ZiPhone 2.4.
FIRST, can someone--the best would be Zibri--clearly tell me if, YES or NO, ZiPhone's supposed to work with the iPod Touch (for jailbreaking only).
Second, I've already tried everything to get jailbreaking done with ZiPhone 2.4 (with ziphone.exe -j) and it always gets the same result: stuck at "Spamming AT, waiting for response...". Then when I finally try rebooting I get the "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" error and I have to restore my iPod Touch by putting it in recovery mode.
I've read everything I've found about ZiPhone and I'm sure it's a damn nice app for a/u/j an iPhone; I would just like to have a confirmation for the iPod Touch... and maybe some clarity of why I have the errors I've just mentionned!
Thanks!
- Mike
Zibri,
Thank you for all the great stuffs. Just one request, can you help us restore back to 4.6BL? Some of us accidentally downgraded the BL.
ziphone -e/ziphone -d then restore does not restore to stock BL
PLEASE
Thank you
Hej Zibri thanks again man!!!!
You're the man! The proudness of mediterranean!!
Grazie Mille!!!!!!
i have a jailbroken 1.1.1, do i have to upgrade to 1.1.3 before i can use ziphone or can i start right away?
According to this thread on MacOSRumors.com the ZiPhone 2.4 OS X GUI downgrades the 4.6 BL automatically to 3.9 even when the BL Downgrade checkbox is not checked. Can anyone confirm this?
//Rob
hi zibri,
great software and great guide
what about posting also some detailed considerations about the opportunity and the implications of downgrading bootloader 4.6 --> 3.9 ?
I think this is a hot topic, since a lot of us are scared about it, also for the possible consequences for future firmware updates by apple.
For instance, are "regular" owners of 4.6 BL iPhones able to update their baseband in order to meet requirements for some applications? (as googlemaps localization). If not, will aplle fix this issue?
Or, is there a chance that they will do, in future updates, a check BL/BB to see if the configuration is regular or hacked?
A lot of questions not exactly on ZiPhone, but since it seems you know very well how this damn cellphone works, you could really enlighten our worried minds.
Give us the light!
Hi, I have my Iphone bricked since 1.1.1 update, and when i've found zibri's work was absolutely amazing, but it doesn't work for me.
I've tried several ways to unlock, jailbreak, etc. etc all of them failed at last.
Zibri: I follow your guide in order to "back to born "state with ziphone - e and ziphone -D an restore, but all times appears error 1601 on Itunes. Can someone back to life my remembered Iphone, died several months ago..
Thanks in advance
Hola Zibri!, Felicitaciones por estos logros tan importantes.
Por favor somos muchos los usuarios de Ipod Touch 16 GB, acuerdate de nosotros y arma un programa para hacerle JB al 1.1.3
Saludos! ;)
Fancesco: apple can't check the BL/BB version, because the 3.9BL is a legit configuration. Apple never updates the bootloader on shipped phones.
The reason is simple: if the bootloader upgrade fails, the phone is bricked. The bootloader itself is meant to allow you to recover the firmware. If that's gone, you can't repair it (possibly through hardware).
There is no way to upgrade to 4.6 through software. The exploit that let's us downgrade the bootloader only exists in 4.6. So if you downgrade to 3.9, there's no way back (yet...). And if the downgrade fails at all, your phone is bricked. Its a risky thing to do. I'd wait for a 4.6/4.03.13G solution if I was you.
Funny, I just restored and rebroke/activated my iPhone with ziphone. It all worked fine, except there is an odd error message:
ERROR: ziphone returned 1
This message appeared after putting the phone in DFU mode. It also appeared after re-jailbreaking/activating the phone using the ziPhone 2.4 OSX GUI.
The phone is fine and works perfectly. I wonder if the error checking has a hiccup somewhere...
Beautiful solution, Zi-Man!
did you try to restore you phone to 1.1.3? That did the trick for me as my phone was once bricked.
Zibri, semplicemente meraviglioso!
Sono orgoglioso di te!
Thanks Zibri
And My 1.1.2 OTB Week 45 is now really free.
Now i can discard my StealthSIM.
Zibri rocks! Thanks for ziphone! I wish I had seen it before spending countless hours trying to jailbreak my phone using methods from other groups. You've saved me alot of time and money!
When the G3 iPhone comes out, I'll be giving this unlocked one to my wife who is still on T-Mobile which has a more affordable data plan. BTW, I sent ya a donation - nothing big. Thanks!!!

Zibri thanks for your every work you know how to make delicious cakes.
One Quest. Today You said"ZiPhone never touches internal security data. -i option just fakes them."
İs that means this imei change option cannot fool the operator. But I saw that it works %100 but like you said as İ understand it is not permanent I am not sure They can see the fake imei or the genuie imei.
Can you say YES ?
Have a nice day
no Opperator See the Real IMEI
@Zibri can i make a German version of ZiPhone?
For bricked iPhone 1.1.1 . Just upgrade to 1.1.3 in iTunes to unbrick it. You may have to put your phone in Restore or DFU mode. Then use Ziphone on it again.
Hi Zibri!! If apple tells to other mobile networks to block imeis other than subscribed to att then what will happen?
There are some scumbags selling your software and links to your Blog for upto $19.95 on E-bay.
This is disgusting and they should be taken out and shot.
I appreciate all the work you have done and I was happy to donate.
I hope Ebay can stop the scammers one day from benefiting from all your hard work.
Hello Zibri.
My phone is a 1.1.2ootb iphone.
I have done what you said: restaure firmware, then unlock with version 2,4 osx and then install bsd subsystem. Then I have declared it as a new iphone in itunes.
I have intermittent trouble with my phone connection. From time to time (generally after exiting sleep mode) it goes to no service for a few seconds. Generally it recatches the Rogers Network a few second after. I have also noticed that my battery gets also discharged very rapidly (almost discharged overnight).
At first, I thought the pb was with the phone. I changed the phone and I have exactly the same issue.
Can you help?
I love you! Fuck Yeahhhhh!!!
I could finally update my frimware to 1.1.3 in few minutes and just donated you 20 Eu! and I will do it every time that I use your app.
will this work on UK OTB iphone ?
Hi all, I am receiving my I phone today and i am getting ready to unlock and jailbreak it. I downloaded the Windows zip file and uncompressed it, but can't find the ziphoneGUI.exe file. Where do i get it? i see there is another link to download the files independently, but the ziphoneGUI file there says is version 2.3
Please somebody help me.
1.0.2 OTB -> 1.1.1, no problems at all.
Thanks!
About EBAY sellers, this is what I have to say: LOL !
Let's call it IDIOT-TAX :)
You're free to do whatever you want with ziphone...
Just share the income if you have any... if not... just use it and HAVE FUN !

But now thinking of getting w ipone
Hi there! First of all, thanks for the app. It´s appreciated.
I unlocked the phone and worked perfectly, except that it didn´t sync. I did kill itunes during install (from a 1.1.3 OTB) :(
I tried to restore the firmware through DFU, but I got an error 1. Now the iPhone is stuck, only showing on its screen the iTunes logo and the cable image.
I´m not sure if I should do -e first, and then -d, or just go ahead with -d?
Thank you so much for your help!
CathyBB
Hi Zibri. It is wonderfull to get such a fine work from you. In the past couple of weeks I was using different tools to activate, jailbreake and unlock my iPhone, but yours is really amazing. In the meantime I'm posting here because I want to let you know that when using ver 2.4b I was looking for the more convenient set of parameters and opted for -Z Y. Unfortunatelly, even when I didn't want it, the process finished changing my BL from 4.6 to 3.9. I recomend you to update de documents included in the ZiPhone to reflect this behavior. Another doubt is if in the future we want to return the iPhone to original status could we upgrade the BL? I hope you read an answer this post that I think is the thinking of many people out there. By the way, io sono anche italiano abitando in Argentina! auguri Zibri e grazie tante!
Hello Zibri,
First I would like to say that you are awsome! next I need help. All this command like -j and -h... how do i use them... where do u type it in?
Thanks a bunch,
ZiPhone user
Simple question, hope you answer zibri: why does it say 2:30' in cmd and 4:00`in gui?

Hi,
Fantastic effort. I unlocked two 8GB 1.1.3 OTB iPhone and they work happily with Optus Australia prepaid (everything works, EDGE, Wireless, youtube: expect Google Maps findme, but thats apples fault)
On one phone installer.app just crashes after "refreshing sources", it wont do anything else.
What do you recommend? How can I reinstall Installer.app on a ziphoned iphone? (I have no ssh or bsd subsystem installed)
Restore and start again
HI, Thanks for the nice and easy tool. I am able to unlock the phone 1.1.2 . I have also updated the community sources to 3.6 and installed BSD subsystem 2.1
I am able to use all the applications viz email, internet browsing etc. However the phone doesn't seem to be working properly.
Problems...
1. I am not able to receive calls. I tried calling myself from another mobile phone. I can hear that the ring is going to my phone on the phone i am calling from but iphone doesn't show any caller.
2. try to dial out using the dial pad, i press the first digit and the phone pad closes and i am returned to home screen
3. I save a new contact and clicked on contact to dial the call went out and connected succesfully...
Any help here would be appreciated...
Thanks
Mohit
Hi Zibri,
First a BIG thankyou. 2.4 unlocked two new OTB 8Gb 1.1.3 iphones (and they work in Australia with Optus prepaid).
Strangely within about a day on each phone, Installer.app now crashes. It worked initially. Now it says "refresshing sources" then springboard crashes.
I had installed BSD subsystem on one phone, and not installed it on another.
I used the Mac OSX GUI version of your tool.
Can I reinstall Installer.app using Ziphone? Is there some option that I can use?
I have read many howtos thats suggest I delete it at the command line. But....the simpilicity of your ZiPhone means I have no command line on the iphone at this point!
I have considered restoring 1.1.3 and running your utility again. What do you think?
Grazzi
Ciao
zibri whaddup? can you send me your home address so that i could send you a money order? thanks
thanks zibri from PARIS !! the real one in France of course! :o)
Hi Zibri,
congratulation. Really a great work!!
Just in case you have a second I have a problem because I jailbracked and activated the phone but no way to have the signal from my operator. Everything works great apart from that...
Thanks so much
Cristiano
@Zibri...you are unique!!
I can't believe! it works!!
I'll bet you will be working for Apple...soon! But in that case...who will help us to unlock a new iphone version created by yourself? :)
The best for you
Ina
Hi CP
You can install signal fix from sendowski.de there installer source can fix this problem.
good luck
You are a legend. My friend's phone had 1.1.2 (after she mistakenly updated from 1.1.1) and it was giving a silly Insert sim error.
It worked a treat and now has 1.1.3 :)
I will definitely be donating some euro's :)
go raibh maith agat ;)
(thank you in Irish :P)
Ciao Zibri, sei un maestro di saggezza.
Grazie per Ziphone, I'll donate for sure.
I have now my working (thanks to ziphone) 1.1.2 otb. Itunes is asking to update to 1.1.3. Should I go for it or not?
Grazie, Thanks, Merci, Danke, Obrigado, Gracias..

ziphone is definitely the perfect jailbreak tool for the rest of us. Thanks! But ever since I installed, I've had some problems with iphone YouTube; it simply doesn't work. Everything else seems to work fine. Any suggestions?
Hey Zibri,
Hailing ya from all the way down from the cayman islands!! Got a question for ya, wondering if your program can or will be able to help eventually.
i have a oob 1.0.2 that was unlocked. eventually i virginised it and upgraded to 1.1.1 and unlocked it as well when it started to act funny by crashing during apps. so i figured i'd restore but before i did i thought (dont ask me why) it would be a good idea to uninstall the virginiser from installer.app. anyway when i did this and restored to 1.1.1 and tried running anysim......it failed. Imagine the instant fear that gripped me! I ended up with the no wifi, no bluetooth, no signall, need repair issue.
Well, almost right away i realized that i wasn't recovering it anytime soon. so i went a got another iphone. I've been hanging on to the broke one and attempting EVERY method posted out there on how to fix it. so far i've come up with the fact that my seczone is gone and i'm pretty sure i don't have the backup anymore figure that may be the root of my problem. you think that eventually you'll put something in your script that will help recover or rebuild phones of this nature?
Great software man, but is there any way to stop bastards from selling it on ebay i bought it and then find out it was for free i would rather give you the money than to the sucker on ebay. MANY thanks, works perfect
Zibri, I have unlocked with my OTB v1.2 only after I upgrade to v1.1.4 first, your V2.5 works beautifully.
But I discover the blue devcie is not working , any help.
My mate iphone has the same issue on v1.1.3

I tried to enter into recover mode manually my pressing the power and home button together and then oly the home button..
It worked, I got the connect to itunes logo. Ziphone also detected the iphone and i heard a sound from my comp also.
But itunes tried to connect to IPHONE software updates but then It shows an error saying IPOD software update server could not be contacted and My iphone is not displayed anywhere in itunes.
please help.
Is there a manual way to restore it to 1.1.4 without using itunes? can anything else be done??
the unlearnt, I was having the same problem as you described, and fixed it by following the TROUBLESHOOTING section accessible from ZiPhone GUI v3.0's Help & Info button. This is also available in the ZiPhone installation folder as TROUBLESHOOTING.txt
My trouble started when I tried to install some new applications on my Jailbroken 1.1.4 16 GB iTouch through the Installer. This normally works fine, but this time while rebooting the iTouch to complete an installation, it got stuck on the Apple Logo (which later overlays the busy icon too). Note, I'm not sure which application may have caused the problem.
To resolve this issue, first I had to enter recovery mode manually:
1) Quit iTunes and close any "helper" daemons.
2) Hold the power button on your phone until the "slide to power off" message appears.
3) Slide to power off and wait for the screen to go completely black.
4) Unplug your phone from the cable or dock.
5) Hold the HOME button on the phone and reconnect it to the cable or dock.
6) Continue holding HOME while the Apple logo appears.
7) Continue holding HOME until the "Connect to iTunes" graphic appears.
8) Release HOME. You're now in "Recovery" mode (not to be confused with DFU mode).
9) Try running ZiPhone again.
Then I tried rerunning the Jailbreak, but it got stuck with the same error you did, namely:
Singleuser boot -- fsck not done
Root device is mounted read-only
If you want to make modifications to files:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
if you wish to boot the system:
exit:
Next, I used the TROUBLESHOOTING's: section IV) Starting Over, part B) Full Hardware DFU. Note, I didn't try part A) The Easy Way, but it might have worked too. For convenience, here are the TROUBLESHOOTING Section IV) instructions.
IV) Starting Over
If none of the above helped, it may be necessary to restore your phone to a
completely clean state before trying again. To do this, perform a
"DFU Restore" as follows:
A) The Easy Way:
1) Shutdown iTunes and connect the phone.
2) Run ziphone -D
3) Your phone will show the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
4) iTunes should be able to restore 1.1.3 firmware to your phone.
Note that this isn't "full" hardware DFU mode, but it should be adequate
to install a current firmware with iTunes.
If you enter this mode by mistake, ziphone -t should reboot normally.
B) Full Hardware DFU (required for downgrades):
Note that using a cable instead of the dock may make it easier to press
buttons in the following steps without losing the connection.
1) Start iTunes and plug the phone in.
2) With the phone powered on, hold both the POWER and HOME buttons for
seven seconds. The screen should turn black.
3) Wait two seconds while the screen is black and release the POWER button
while still holding the HOME button.
4) The screen will remain black, but after a few more seconds iTunes will
detect the phone in recovery mode.
5) Release the HOME button and proceed to restore firmware with iTunes.
Timing is fairly important on this. If your phone reboots or ends up in
recovery mode, just try again. You might want to look at a clock that shows
seconds while you do this. The timing needs to be exact for it to work.
If you enter this mode by mistake, hold the HOME and POWER buttons for
seven seconds until you see the Apple logo and immediately release both
buttons. The phone should reboot normally, assuming a valid firmware image
is present on the phone.
This allowed me to do a Restore to 1.1.4 firmware in iTunes 7.6.1.9.
Next, I reran the Jailbreak from the ZiPhone GUI v3.0, and all was well!
