Okay I am a total newbie when it comes to iphones.. All i know is that I have a 1.1.2 OTB phone which I need to be unlocked. Is this "MD5" even related to the software unlock .... ??

S/W unlock is not gonna happen till the end of this century. :) I think no one is dealing with it.

Does it means that the S/W unlock is closer?
I don't need to know the exact date, but I would like to know if there is some progress. Otherwise I will go with the HW unlock from Geohot, that is the only person that has said something that works!!

Just because you don't get what is happening and you, like everybody else, would like a reaction from him or even better, an unlock. That does not mean you have to be like this.
If he likes to play, let him. It will keep everybody busy until the end of feb (or later) and we will also get to see some classics (which I think are appropriate for what he wants to say).
If there will be an unlock, I hope it fails with you. Maybe makes a nice little brick in your sweaty palm.
